Hi Guys,

I'm looking through my planet scans and checking out enemy planets worth invading and figured I'd try this for a change.

I have a planet owned by Dfire. Now I could easily just invade and do the whole blah blah blah.

But I'd rather just work out something that works between the both of us. So we can both walk away happy.

The planet isn't that fabulous, probably in his top 40-50 planet range is my guess. But it has a bit of potential. I'd like to either just buy it off him, or have him pay for my purge. Either one will work for me.

If you know him, and he's at all interested, just pm me through forums.

I'll pass the word to him, but I must warn you... We generally do not like being extorted and we REALLY dislike people invading our planets. And before you go all "I'm just being a nice guy and offering to purge it," that IS extortion. I'm sure we can find a few of your legions planets that we could "purge for pay" or just take. Wanna be a nice guy? Purge it. Plain and simple. Don't come on here and say pay me or I'll just take the planet.

For the most part, if it doesn't have any defense, I don't really care about it. If it does then I have put as much as I really think it is worth. If you take it I will either try to take it back or just offer you up to my legion for a zeroing. Weigh your own options.

Darth, I'm not extorting at all. If i wanted to be King #*&$ I'd have already taken and fluxed it. I have literally had the planet in my scans for months, this isn't a bum rush. Extortion is an "or else". This isn't an "or else". Maybe we'll work a deal. Maybe we won't.

If we don't we'll at least know more about the other person. Purging it without saying anything isn't a "nice guy" move either. It's dumb. Your guy wouldn't know I did something nice, and we'd never look out for each other in the future. Maybe he has one of my planets, or one of you guys do have one of my planets, and we can do a cross-purge.

Who knows. We'll see. Thanks again.

the worst part of your original post was this

it just doesn't sound good... doesn't sound friendly... especially the part where you want him to pay for you to purge it

next time just come in and say something like "Hey.. i'm looking for Dfire... i've had one of his planets on scan for a while and would like to discuss with him whether it's one of his better or worse planets... i'd be willing to take if off his hands on friendly terms if it's one of his worse planets just taking up space"

I don't understand players problems with having a planet.......is he even gonna invade the planet if it is no to paying?

We don't have a problem with players having a scan of our so-so planets. My problem is with the ones that say pay me to purge or I might invade it. As far as I'm concerned there are 4 options: (1) Ignore the planet in your list, (2) Purge it, but I'm not paying for you to increase your scan potential, (3) Sell it (don't let us find out or you could suffer pretty bad), or (4) Man up and try to take it yourself (even more suffering). To paraphrase something Mento said when we started this legion, Go ahead and try, but don't complain when you start losing planets.

Lol...justcae...u've known me though KoNR a long time and I have to tell you..offering to purge a planet for a price is considered extortion by many in GL...my self included...best to just keep them lined up should any...unpleasantness unfold

People can keep posting all they want or need to feel free to turn this thread into a debate about the pro's and con's of planet purging vs a fee as the matter has already been settled between Dfire and myself. The point of this thread was to get in contact with a player first and foremost and setup some sort of an exchange, be it for credits or future favour.

For the record, I purged the planet in good faith that should he, or someone he knows get a hold of one of my planets they be purged. That's a fair deal as far as I'm concerned.

If someone is capable of taking one of my planets, and they ask for a purge fee, I have -zero- problems with that. A Planet flux goes for what 7000ku? or Roughly that. If you want me to pay you 250 ku to purge a scan of my planet, by all means, get in contact with me. I don't know what kind of people you all have dealt with in the past but I -never- put a price on what my purge would be, and it would have been around that. Just a small tip really. However, like i just said in the start, I have no problem setting up favours for people either. Purge for purge, future or otherwise.

Any legion worth it's salt is going to retaliate for any planet steal. So any "If you! Then we'll .... !!!" is the common response. I don't know any planet that I've ever taken or ever lost that I havn't seen retaliation over. More often than not, the planet stealer gains more than they lose. Perhaps a recent example.

In LoIR we lost a Dyson some weeks ago to X Legion (random character, not the actual legion). X is asked to return the planet "or else." They become KoS on BT, alerted whenever possible, and zeroed. All scans are gone through. Several planets are taken (Even if you add them up they won't equal a dyson though). But you're not going to really do much else. Any really good planets that you scan get gobbled up immediately. Most top legions have dedicated Sab Squads, this means if I scan blitz and get a x15 blah blah, it's going to be under attack, and attempted to be took in under 24 hrs. Most scans that legions have are going to be at best mid tier VR -> 2x planets that they have not gotten around to taking. If you take anything better than that, likely you'll come ahead.

Back to this situation, the planet at hand wasn't overly amazing. It was worth keeping in my scans as a "maybe in the future". Rather than do that though, I would much rather make some deal, any deal with the person. Branch out and get to know people. Blind purging is absolutely retarded though. I could just as easily purge a VS, VS planet and get the same benefit towards my future scans. And it is not a "nice guy" move as the person will never ever know you did something upstanding for them.

So by all means, continue debating over the "extortion" for planet purges or what have you. I'm happy I got in contact with Dfire. Seems like a pretty good guy to me. Would have never known him if I'd just "blind purged", or invaded.
