Yeah, it was PotC who disabled the Wombat base a couple months ago. I'm not the only officer who remembers it. And no, the planet PotC refused to give back was *not* originally a PotC planet. I'd first taken it as an unoccupied Toxic. PotC justified their refusal to give it back with the excuse, "GD didn't tell us you were their junior legion."

The first time the Wombat base was attacked by a legion NAPd with Galaxy Desperados, our parent legion, I asked GD Leaders if soft NAPs applied to bases. I was told that most of the big legions did not consider bases within the protection of soft NAPs, but that sending a Diplomatic Comm message was worth a try.

In practice, I've found that legions we're otherwise on good terms with respond to a DipComm message by backing off. Some legions tell us, "soft NAPs don't apply to bases." PotC didn't think our status as GD's junior legion and the soft NAP we had with them made us off limits to their attack, so why are they complaining about us helping attack their base? Do they think Wombats made the difference in the disable?

Ok, so GD is invited to hit the PoTC base. Strongly encouraged, in fact. We decline the invitation, because we will not drop a long standing NAP for a sneak attack, even to help our closest ally in their time of need.

But we certainly discuss it among our legion. We decide that in light of Pirates alliance with our enemies, and a few other reasons, we no longer want the NAP. So a day later, we drop it.

I send a series of very respectful inter legion comms explaining our reasons and motives. And because we do respect our relationship to that point, we tell Pirates that GD will consider them as soft-nap for 24 hours, so they can notify, flux probe etc as needed.

How were we supposed to do it? We made no demands of PoTC. We ignored no attempts to talk. We in fact harbored no grudges. All we wanted was to drop a NAP that no longer worked for us, and we dropped it in the most respectful way possible. PoTC obviosly didn't like our decision, and here we are.

Bein privy te officer discussions, this is what happened:


GD dropped NAP and informed us they wanted a 24hr soft-nap cool down.

GD informed us that it was due to being allied wit dys, and that GD wanted te particpate on killin arr base.

We did try te persuade 'em te keep the NAP but they arr blinded by dys-hate apparently.

We never agreed te soft NAP cooldown time.

We do appreciate that GD didn't drop the NAP during the base battle and join in.


(do keep in mind that this were one o' the most long-standin NAPs in tha galaxy)


We didna declare "war" on anybody. We were already in conflict wit the yeller bilgerats due to a surge o' planet steals.

Pirates an' GD been NAPed since I been in Pirates. Which isa long while.

Very strange feelin' not automatically bumpin' 'em off tab now.

I also see officer chats, PoTC NEVER sent us a request to reinstate NAP or tried to persuade us in any ways I would see it. Ix merely complained about the drop and wombats (non) attack on thier base.

We always want badges and crates, of course we wanted to hit the base. We want to hit our sub legions base when it comes up, but we rescan when it happens. We didn't scan it, didn't lock it, didn't hit it. GW had 1 attacker dealing 160. They saw your name on base and let it pass. you're just trying to make us look like the bad guys, same as everyone else does.
Had we known you joined the Dysonian groups sooner we may have averted this course. For THAT I apologize, but everything else we have done was kind, considerate, and necessary.

Think in real life terms of military projects. You find out one of your close allies if aiding your enemy to kill your other allies thus weakening your front against those enemies... you pull them out and end the relations. We did the smart thing, we even did so with a 24hr soft nap status (not a mandatory but a compassionate offer) to allow PoTC members time for probing and fluxing planets that might be unsafe because we still harbored no ill will to them and would want the same offer from any legions we are allies with in such a case.
You simply cannot be allies with those who would help the enemies. When we were asked to help attack we denied our allies because we felt uncomfortable attacking them while NAP or dropping it without warning like the Paladins did to us even though they joined our enemies.

Our reasons were only because of aiding our enemies. Nothing could fix that except you denouncing them, putting yourselves in peril. We SHOULD have asked your group to drop them for our groups again, but I doubt that would have happened anyway.

There seem to be some misconceptions still.

We OFFERED a 24 hour cease fire after dropping the NAP. We made no demands on you. That offer was clearly declined. (which is perfectly fine.)

The PoTC base was NEVER brought up as a reason do drop.

We did not drop due to "blind hatred" of the dysonians. Although Pirates choice of allies was a major factor.

And for the record we had absolutely NO involvement with what was apparently1 wombat who did around 150 damage to the pirates base, we did not even know about that til the end.

To summerize, for various reasons we did not want the NAP so we dropped it. We did it in the most respectful and friendly way possible. We did not backstab, we did not declare war. For this we received accusations, insults, anger, and yes we received a declaration of war.

Please, enlighten me, I just don't understand the spite. How would Pirates have preferred we end it?

Well... it doesn't matter. If he decided to buy planets and he got an ok from the leaders.. you guys can really convince him to change his mind?

what does ANY of this ridiculous arguing over who shot first matter.... fact is, SOMEONE WANTS TO BUY PLANETS. Let him buy them. and then you can buy HIS planets from other people... the galaxy keeps spinning...

Let me guess, Ixianna ranted about me in your officer chat after she wanted to know why we started taking your planets. I attempted to explain it to her over FB chat, how Desperados considered this post as hostile intent. But instead of seeing my point, I was rewarded with more hatred and insults. I was informed that I was wrong, and this post was only meant to annoy us, and we should not have taken any PoTC planets in response.

Darklust, you once again misunderstand, though - This did not piss me off in the slightest. Your hatred of us has been very, very good for us. The only people pissed off are on your side of the fence.

Dysonians, Paladins, Unknown - Please look at this and realize what you are now allied with. Best of luck if you ever decide to drop your NAP with Pirates for any reason.

That whole thing sounded relatively silly.. Actually, if anything this goofy little war made our alliances with those legions closer.. I couldn't care less about either of those legions in the past and the only contact for most of us has been through planet theft; however, during and after the attack on our base and seeing how they stuck by our side and helped defended us proved that they're each more of an asset to us than all 3 of yours combined... I am happy that we're allied with them and wouldn't have it any other way..

I personally don't care how anyone else views what happened.. Here's what I see: you have made an enemy of us despite your pitiful attempts at saving face in terms of your "24 hour soft nap" which i'm the one who personally broke cause I thought it was your version of spiting in your face (mind you, it was gatorbill of wombats who gave the allusion that it was GD that gave the order to hit out base.) and i'm the one who's buying up your planets.. The rest of Pirates really could give less of a damn what I do on forums despite a few allies responses on this forum.. So, I will continue to buy up your planets and if you have an issue with such things, direct your responses to me next time, not ixianna as she is not involved nor any other member of my legion.
