My recommendations for a PvP heavy ship:

Ancient Untouchables Lv6 AP base: Masters of slow ranking, any player can kill, these guys will teach you how to build your ship for combat in ways no one else can

Sons of Infinity Lv6 AP base: Fiercely loyal, these guys stop at nothing to earn their kills

Stormkyn Alliance Lv6 AP base: Don't know much about them myself, but they've been good friends when we're in a pinch

I'm curious as to why you haven't joined The Invisible Storm already. We're a legion with some momentum, with as many CT lab recipes in 3 months as most have in their much longer timespans. Our level 5 base is pumping out artifacts like no tomorrow, and we have a quality crew. So yes - The Invisible Storm - a legion that you probably should have joined before making this post.
