im starting this thread to find out how many legions allow low rank legion members, to leech on others to kill elites/bosses by doing the smallest amounts of dmg. how many legions frown upon this?

I'd rather have people leech than have spots go unfilled. Doing 95% of the damage to warp stations every other day kinda sucks though.

We only go to the point of locking the damage unless there aren't enough members of a particular rank to finish the elite. Or if the elite is about to expire someone will make up for others lack of damage. So, no. We don't have a problem with leeches.

Leeching - or riding- or however you phrase it- is only an issue if it is a pattern of behaviour- guys run out of energy sometimes- understandable- but 8 elites posted and 5 or 6 with two hits from the same player is an issue- basically very poor habit to rely on others to deliver you ctp/npc drops= players have been booted for this for repeated instances

i don't consider 2-3 hits as a leech.. i consider it a bumpable person... they're probably just wanting to see the drops
now, if the last slot on an npc has done enough damage that nobody else can bump them, and then leaves it that way..... that guy's a leech and deserves to be covered with salt

Remember that they may have spent more energy than you on it, but done less damage. it'd be better if hits per player are shown too.
If not every slot is filled, and someone wants to finish it, I have no problem with people "leeching" to get a reward that'd be wasted otherwise.

Quite often in Vygoid Genome, if someone wants to hit a rarer elite and has no energy generally people offer to carry them. I've done 60% to get someone a drop, and equally others have done it for me. It's people who deal 18% on 3 person elites and then leave it that annoys me. If people offer to carry you then sure, I did that on a dark ring just last night, was carried to my first thruster by Neil1998 and QuaiChangCaine.

we have had a couple of serial offenders do this in Stormkyn. one guy had a theory that he wanted to be the bottom guy on payout cos thats where the best drops went, another blamed his mobile for him coming on, doing just over 50% of lock damage and then forgetting about it...on all the available bosses he could see. neither player is still with us

now, if the last slot on an npc has done enough damage that nobody else can bump them, and then leaves it that way..... that guy's a leech and deserves to be covered with salt for 2 and a half days, in roo2, there was a graxis, stryll prison up, 9 of us had locked it, the other 6 didn't, 4 of which only did 1-2% damage. with only 2 hours left until it had expired, me and 2 of the others who had locked started pounding away at it, when it had 50k hulls left. we took it down to about 16k hull. we had our lock up at 35-40%. the ones who had 1-2%, also started fighting elites that got alerted, instead of finishing the boss that was alerted that they were on. RoO2 doesn't put up with leeches like that.

Our policy is that you must lock on to an elite/boss before your allowed to move on to another one, if caught then you get warned and then finally expelled.
Unfortunately we had to get rid of someone for that very reason yesterday, other than this and a couple of other minor infractions he was a decent player.

I'm sometimes in on a 10-12 person elite and it might sit for a short while simply because of a short distance to making my next lvl and not wanting someone to squash it and lvl me with relays and ballistae's on it's never an issue of not wanting to put in the energy myself and I always come back to seal the deal.
And like DarthRavadge said we don't have a leach problem in our legion and that's with rules in place against bumping.

In my opinion, I'd rather have people do minimum damage and have all spots filled, then someone who just does a complete overkill on the boss and not have all the spots filled. It hurts the legion when not everyone can get a reward. And I agree with Spyder's post, some people just aren't as strong as others. The only time when I consider it unacceptable is when I know the person can do alot more than what they put it, and they leave it for others to finish off without locking in.
It happened once where there was an elite up. 2 people were locked in, leaving 33% left. Someone else decided to just put in 17% on it and leave it for someone else to finish off. But after a stern lecture he finally finished the boss.

In WDE... we prefer that max hit the elite and often someone will just kill it to prevent someone from getting knocked out of contention for it.
Its was quite common (when we were under 150) for one of the leaders to alert a npc with only 10-15% left....and finish it when 3 has hit. Now we kinda have to do our share as we have a limited number of players who can hit the higher level elites
