I've never been clear on when I'm critting, or what's happening when I do, and I'm not sure how scan factors into it since there is a wide variance in results anyway. Same for enemy crits, cloak and scan claim to affect these, I would like to see how.

When you do the most damage is your crit as for hacking or raiding it tells you.

Uh.. you can do the most damage because you are stronger than an NPC, then you seem to get bonus damage for doing more than you took. I don't consider that a crit because with 60 scan, I shouldn't be getting the "crit bonus from scan", which I am not even sure exists. I had expected that some % of hits (increasing with more scan) would do extra damage purely due to scan, but I don't observe any difference.

this has been suggested before, but once again, +1. ive noticed a few times an npc has done double damage to me, and ive done double or half damage to an npc. this would make it easier. just a red critical in the same style/font as the disabled notification either above the damage bubble or behind it.

In the grand scheme of killing things, does it really matter when you get a crit hit? You're gonna shot it until one of 5 things happen... 1-You kill it, 2-It kills you, 3-You run out of energy, 4-You get halc'd (unless you have a fuse), or 5-You get KV'd (again a fuse lets you keep going). Personally, I really don't care what kind of damage is being done. I care about the XP, my energy, and the big red word "Disabled." That's it.

I mean this purely for NPC combat, although a cloak vs. scan check would make sense given the descriptions of both for criticals. I just like to know if it will make a difference to add scan, vs. NPCs.
