Add a pvp switch.
If set you don't show up on any battle tabs.
if you attack another player's ship or planet it gets cleared.
put a one week timer on it before it can be set again.
npc attacks do not clear it.
Can still defend planets but not hidden on those lists.
If You get attacked, it clears it.
Simple.

there was another FB game that had this built into the game but it gave players a 20% tax on resources and xp to keep the playing field even.

the only possible use maybe is griefing; if someone just was getting harassed so much they couldnt take it, but thats what the counters are for. I think 5 a day is pretty reasonable for each.

It has a built in penalty .. no acces to the new badge toys

not really a penalty once you get all the new stuff... i like the 20% xp penalty. seems reasonable considering this is a war game.

I like the concept; I see some issues.

If you attack, hack, raid, or set artifacts on an enemy ship the flag is reset.
If you attack or set enemy artifacts on an enemy planet the flag is reset.
If you DEFEND a planet, the flag is reset.
If you ALERT an enemy ship or planet the flag is reset.

After all, why would you let someone use their ship to defend, and yet not let them be attackable in general? And why would you let them alert an enemy to their legion and not be attackable?

I think the restriction on alerting or defending would be an adequate penalty.

Actually you could make it simpler than all that.. just reset it if you are attacked or have an artifact used against you. Guess that would still let you defend with it on, but if you are attacking/defending a planet you are putting yourself out there to be attacked. Why do they need to be on the battle tab if they are defending the planet to begin with? Or does that just blow the whole "I don't want to pvp" concept.. only partially.. your planets are still scannable and can be attacked.. should still allow defense...

I got a better idea. Accept that this is a war game and that PvP is an integral part of any war game.

lol the ingame pvp switch- cloaking modules. if they cant find you then they cant disable you.
