At first I thought the read through the dialogue and get a 20 hour effect was a placeholder back when it was a new daily. I think now that it is settled, it should be automatic or something. It kinda doesn't make sense that the upload will expire after 20 hours. If you get data on how a planet is damaged, that data should be good forever, it's not like the weapon used to damage the planet will change so u gotta go back to ur employer and get new data. That said, did I just do Roathir LM, scan 200 planets, then realize I forgot to get the effect? Yes

but then dan would have to maintain seperate DB tables about who has the mission unlocked, who doesnt, who completed it etc etc... that way is much simpler..
you can just read the dialogue whenever you wake up in the morning since it has a 20 hour timer.

Bla1 wrote: That's not helping to assuage my rage we have zero interest in assuaging your rage. you posted an inane game suggestion to account for your own lack of attention. it does not pass muster. instead of raging at other players who are able to pay more attention to what they are doing, you should be learning from them how to alleviate the deficiencies in your own game play. personally, i have gone up to around 125 planets without getting an NSX crate drop, so the RNG can really slap you around even if you do have planet hunting effects enabled. so having a huge energy tank and time to spare is recommended for such tasks.

Sucks you scanned all that without realizing you didnt have the effect going. Next time just check your ship's status effects if you're in doubt!

maby theire is a reason Dan made it that way... if you already have enougth scan data sitting in your cargo to complete the mission, you shouldnt be forced to pick up more if you scan more planets so the way the mission is now, you can basickly scan without activating the effect if thats is what you want and you plane things a bit
and it the same with the NPC mission (The Lutuma Report) if you already have the 220 Lutuma Memory Cells needed to do that one, as long as you dont activade the effect you can still hunt for Chuch merchants and other season NPC without getting any Lutuma Extractors on scanner
Dont blame others for your lack of ability to actualy plane ahead and check up on things before you do them
what I dont get is why the Shadow-Barb Deployment, Hull Test and Build Segment A+B of the Kassivar Key abilityes also have to be activaded once every 40 hours, you should basickly have access to those as long as you have the mission where you need them for active but for both NPC's and planet scanning, having to activade the effect is perfect the way it is

you might be right senatorhung, and can live with the way Dan made those abilityes
but, it still anoying to get online and be ready to do a PvP run, only to find out you have to wait another 6 to 8 hours to do it, as you need to activade the ability first, before you can test enemy hulls - tryed that a few times when I was doing the Sphere Of Influence mission

The only annoying thing is that for some of the missions you can't tell when the ability is active... (the only way to know if you could do hull tests, for example, was by going to the abilities tab). But by and large, if you keep track of what you are doing then you shouldn't have any issues with timing it all so it works out...

sounds like the consensus is plan ahead and check your setttings before leaping....seems pretty reasonable to me....there are a lot of inconveniences in the game, but i think the plan ahead thing is part and parcel with many other game aspects and the holistic of ship growth and development. Making us think is a good thing.
