I would like to have a setting for my legion that can lock down elites to new hitters after enough players have damaged the elite to claim the rewards after locking. For instance , the new cosmiren elios elite rewards 5 players. After 5 players have damaged it, even though it hasn't been locked or destroyed, new players are barred from touching it. Perhaps a failsafe could be enacted that allows leaders/officers to bypass the lockout.
My reason for this suggestion is to stop other players from 'bumping' others off of the elite and sniping the reward. My legion has recently gone thru a bit of drama after several members disobeyed standing orders to leave the elite alone after the I.itial slots were filled. I would like to avoid this problem in the future.
Of course legions would have the option to deactivate this feature

lets me get this right, you want to prevent anyone from helping kill the Edios pulse - so the 5 players have to wait x * 30 min to actualy kill it depending on how many times they get slimed by it - instead of having it Down in 5 to 35 min. :(

NO - we dont need a setting for who or how many can hit an elite
the cosmiren is all about teamwork and not about stealing the drops from the players that gets blocked by the Pulse for 30 min
that is what you set up rules for in your legion
and if your members doesnt follow those, it your job as a leader/officer to deal with that

So, someone taps something once and disappears for 6 hours. No one is allowed to bump them off? Bull. Get your lock or die trying. Don't put enough effort in to get the reward? STFU.

+1 for this as an optional setting.

Don't want this setting? Turn it off.

not just the fact that others can help with the pulser but often if an elios still is surviving after having 5 on it other people may want to use the pulser to help with their enlightened medal rather than actualy taking away from someone else a lock.

In EotS, as an example, before alerting a cosmiren you MUST ask for four other people to hit. Then you and those four are the only ones allowed to hit it, regardless of how long it takes. Legions doing this thing would benefit from the proposed optional setting and legions which don't want to do things that way can keep their settings as normal.

we do it slightly difrent

1. ask in legion chat for players who wants a a spot on it (if you dont the first 5 players on it holds top 5)
2. anounce it as Player 1 - player 2 - player 3 - player 4 - player 5, so everyone knows who are getting the drops
3. share it

but as long as they make sure top 5 are the once getting the drops, anyone who wants can help kill the elios pulse and use it to get the Fully Charged fully charged medal

Quote:
Fully Charged
Disable 5 Elios Empyrean ships while under the effects of an 'Elios Pulse' from an Elios Base

that way they dont need to stay up for 3 to 4 hours, if the players in top 5 gets unlucky and keeps getting slimed by the pulse every time they Work on killing it

my point here is, as long as your legion sets up some rules for how you want to deal with this NPC - and your leaders/officers enforce those, you dont need special settings on who or how many can hit NPC's shared in legion

Initially this was the case, as long as people had permission, but people kept getting bumped off of the elites because of this so the rules changed.

the presice rules isnt realy importained - as long as the legion agreys on what they are, and they get enforced
if 5 players only is what Works for you, then thats the way you do it

what usealy happen is, someone planes to take a short break anyway - so the x * -60% attack wont be a problem for him
so he puts as mutch dammage on the pulse as posible, hopefuly killing it
that way the players asigned to top 5, can easily bump him once theire debuffs expire and kill it

sure mistakes can happen, but we have seen extreamly few of those on this NPC

I honestly can't believe this is even being discussed. First time someone loses out on a Fab because the schmuck with 5 energy and a KVT effect gets his notification cache dumped to him first, there's a chance you'd lose a member. And using the Cosmo as the reasoning is absurd. Let's ruin the competiveness of whacking elites because of a SEASONAL. Seriously?

The simplest way to handle elites is FFA, shoot first ask questions later, fire till you lock or it's dead whichever comes first. And no whining allowed.

this was made in the interest of fairness to my legion . some guys dont pay attention and just hit away obliviously . sometimes someone has to go to work , or has an emergency and cant log on for awhile . i would just like a way to ensure that my team gets what they deserve without having to threaten to kick ppl all the time

i did say the setting would be optional , and also have a failsafe that could allow officers/leaders to open the elite to all

i only used the cosmiren as an example it was the first elite off the top of my head

BTW not everyone is in a top legion with established protocols . not everyone can afford to keep kicking players if they mess up and easily be able to replace them . this would just be a way to ensure fairness, nothing more

also , the legion members shouldnt have to compete with one another , it should be teamwork . my suggestion i think serves to reinforce the need for teamwork

Highlighted bit is the important it... If people need this implementing, as they can't follow basic rules, they won't be much good as part of a team.

yes it is important , but it's not really all that enforcible . i just want to take the ability to bump out of the equation so there is no temptation . after the players are used to it , then we can drop the lockdown and enjoy the teamwork

Plenty of other legions manage it (and I don't just mean the top 20).

Heck I was in a legion that dropped in and out of the top 50 who managed it perfectly fine

See? Even umbozo gets it...

If by some incredible chance Dan falls down the steps, bumps his head, and actually implements something like this, I swear I will join your legion Ted, and single tap each and every shared NPC I can and laugh at your crew"s whining while I skip merrily to the bank with all my cant bump me loot.

The thing is, being optional, this won't hurt anyone.
This only helps legions that obviously have a dysfunctional leadership.
No down side, right?
wrong, because Dan can do something better with his time. This "if you don't like it, don't use it" argument just doesn't work.

Thanks Darth Flatulence...

I give this setting one day before we hear the same complaints people had about open recruitment, "oh the naughty players are coming in and taking NPC drops"....

as a genneral rule, I agrey Darth Flagitious - NPC should simply be FFA

but not this season NPC. The problem here is the first players on it will get slimed by x * -60% attack nerf's taking out the shield + elios pulse

so if they are FFA and you are an evil bastard - what you do is simply wait for someone else to kill the shield + pulse
and while they can do nothing but wait for 30 min until the x * -60% attack effects to disapear, you simply lock it and steal theire drops

so for a NPC like this one, some legions might need a few more rules then the usealy FFA

Pretty simple to just take care of that crap before you even alert it. Or at least the shields. We're not having any problems at all with Cosmos here at TU. And no one's griping either.

Everyone has their own methods for handling elites and bosses. in GP we try to make sure our younger players get the chance since any number of the older ranked players could easily dominate the field.

Just because our method isn't your method doesn't make us better or worse than you. You say the system works. We say our system works. It's that simple.
