5 days ago I discovered a "Very Large" Terra planet controlled by a level 6 player. At the time of my discovery the colony was "Peaked." I reason that the owner has been in possession of the planet for at least 10 days. They have remained at level 6 for at least 5 of those days.
GIMME DEM PLANETZ
Possible Solution: I'm thinking that after seven (7) days of not logging on to the game, a player becomes "inactive." This strips away any cloaking effects on their planets and ships, and allows them to be attacked by any level player. MAYBE even nerfs the ability of their planets to ward off attacks.
Reasoning: A player that does not log in for 7 days has very likely decided to no longer play the game. There are a limited number of "rare" planets in the game, having them owned by inactives blows.
The "inactive" feature does have drawbacks, as it forces a player to log onto their FB account at least once a week, and may screw with vacations or military deployments.

Something like this was brought up and discussed in this post: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=292Dan seemed open to the idea.

Agree. That is exactly the same way as Evony or Kingdom of Camelot are having.. Temporary newbie protection and it would break after 7th day or attack other city or hit the city limit.. Then they'll be fresh meat for us to enjoy eating.

10 days isn't enough time! I have family in Germany. When I visit rarely I go for three weeks sometimes 5 weeks. It takes me years to save up because I'm not going to short change other items/cost/IRA/etc in order to go every other year as some of my family do. And don't tell me to log in while traveling. I'm not in my routine and am focused on traveling. Besides my immediate family would frown upon it.
Why not have a 'away' setting that gives a person X number of days to be away. What about people going on assignments and unable to log in. Maybe the amount of away time increases with rank.
Now if someone just abandoned the game we need to be able to get his planets somehow. Maybe increase the chance those planets get discovered until after one hundred days their is a one hundred percent chance they are discovered?
Just my thoughts.

Got a friend that almost plays everyday is not yet rank 20 after almost 2 weeks... I guess 14-20 days is more appropriate

Just my thoughts. So you think the majority of people are going to start GL, then be gone for ten days then come back to the game?

2 full weeks (14 days) . thats really plenty of time, even if traveling. the protection is really a courtesy. use it or lose it. i think i covered 30+ ranks in 2 weeks.

Maybe I'm the only one. But when I'm overseas the last thing I did on the my last trip was get on the internet. I was way to busy with family. Maybe a simple PM to webguydan would do for those rare times. Brian

Just my thoughts. I hear what you are saying. But as we all know, there are expections to every rule. 7-10 days is just a figure that is designed to be reasonable for most people. In addition, a losing "newbie" protection only matters if you have a planet worth stealing.
