All I have right now is just a basic idea of creating a new planet type, could use some help fleshing it out. So far what I'm kicking around is an artifact called a "Tectonic Stabilizer". It would be a mission unlock, and it would convert the world. Trying to think of a more creative bonus than just the +2 size/+2 resources one that the melter and crystallziers do. (yes, I know crystillizers are only +1 size, same basic idea though.) Definately a size increase. Maybe no increase in minerals, but a bonus to artifact and research with a passive defense bonus, due to the newly hardened nature of the world?

Well lava and magma when cooling shrink so I'd say +4 resources but -1 size. it would be worth it but not the greatest thing.

im not too keen on the whole 'planet shrinking' thing. but for some reason ppl are pushing it. i like this new obsidian planet. i think it should be at the very least +0 size and +1 resource with a 500 passive defense/cloak (because its a black planet now.) what i would like to see tho is a +2 size and +2 resource. we really only have that for ice worlds right now... along with the passive defense and cloak.

I agree, another +2/+2 planet arti would be nice.

i agree with all of it including the shrinking and i think a passive cloak of say 500 to a thousand because it is basically a planet of black glass

Ice world should shrink not expand to be honest, why do you think ice floats?
I Like +4 resources -1 size.

Hawke, set up a poll, +4 resources -1 size or +2 resources +2 size

You need to go back to biology bud, water expands as it freezes, which makes ice lighter than water, hence why it floats. Fill a plastic bottle to the top with water and stick it in your freezer and see what happens.

Hydrology, chemistry or maybe physics but not biology. However, he is right, the planet should compress, not expand.

That's what he said; it expands when it freezes so it shrink when it melts, so technically the Mass Surface Melter should make it get smaller.

Also, people should not try that.

Hence why I said the cooling surface would be bigger instead of smaller. GL dosen't always apply normal physics. :) Howabout...

+1 size, +2 art/research , +500 defense (or +750 invasion defense instead?)

Edit: Mixed defense/cloak bonus, or just cloak bonus possibly? Hell, it would very nearly be a navigation hazard, black world floating through space.

every volcanic planet i have is sparse in art/res and ext rich in mining. i would much rather prefer it give a plus 2 to all resources, or at least a +2 to mining.

Ahh sorry, misread it. Thought he was refering to creating an ice world.

(goes to look at his planet tab)

Damn, four pages of volcanic planets and all are superior mining and sparse everything else. Haven't looked at them very closely because I don't usually focus alot on mining. Ok, that being said, here's a new version.

Size +1, Mining +3, Art/Research +1, and...

a) Passive Defense +750
b) Passive Invasion Defense +1000
c) Passive Defense/Cloak +500/500
d) Passive I.D./Cloak +750/500
e) Passive Cloak +1000

This would be a hell of an artifact though, should probably be a mission somewhere in the 150's to unlock. Or maybe make it a new step after the Desert to Crystal mission with a high mineral requirement.

If your using it for mining, why would you care if it's getting a lower bonus for 2 other useless stats. +2 size +2 mineral wouldn't be a bad idea though.
