it seems that every type of basic planet in the game has an artifact to make it better. Barren convert to Sentient Terran to Gaia Ice to Oceanic Desert to Crystal Metallic to Dyson even volcanic and toxic have specific artifacts to improve them, be it the eruption channelers or the toxic purifyers. I think we need an artifact that will improve gas planets either resourcewise or convert them into a different type of planet. Gas can be supercooled and converted into a liquid chemical, thus increasing the density of the planet but at the same time reducing the size. If the gas giants in this game have imaginary unlisted moons, then the moons would most definitly fall out of orbit and perhaps even collapse into the chemical planet. Because the chemicals would evaporate if warmed there would be a haze over the planet creating an artificial atmosphere. I propose that if there was an artifact in this game that could supercool a gas planet that it would change the description from gas to chemical, and give the planet a random value for artifact and mineral between very abundant and ultra rich. The research of the planet would not change, unless it was sparse or less in which case it would be converted to average. Size would not change because of the added mass of the moons into the planet. Normal structures would be able to be built on the planet because it is not gaseous anymore, and would change from 'common' to 'rare'. |

By your reasoning there already is an improvement to gas planets, the gas igniter rod. But I do like the idea, I always like the idea of improving planets. |

Convert barren planets to sentient? Interesting... A bit off topic, but how do you do that? As for the gas planet thing, I was kicking the idea around myself. I was thinking about the other way though, igniting it and deriving some kind of bonus out of it that way. Having trouble thinking of something applicable though. |

star harvesting, by converting it to a star and then collapsing it in on itself into a neutron star? it could be reduced to average size but get an automatic 5-15x megarich for mining resources. the +12 buildings are already called star extractors, it would kind of fit. and for the sentient thing i was reading in another thread by the dysonians about a something sentiox. i have no idea where to get em tho. |

Collapsing gas planets into stars is an interesting twist. Sentient planets are gained through the mission hacking the sentiox, but it's a high level mission. |

i was trying to avoid them turning into icy because then they can be melted. thats why i had said chemical. otherwise theres gonna be alot of mega collosal oceanic planets out there... lol |

Though I would assume in the freezing process they would become smaller, not larger, so that wouldn't be a problem. |

In planet idea thread. I proprosed for it to turn into a micro star And it is possible because the smallest star we found so far is just a bit bigger than juipiter. |
