 Planetary fighter defense/carriers ?

I read a few months ago on the topic here of palnetary fighters or carriers implimentation into the game. Has any thought been given to that since by the game gods ?

I love the idea... Sounds much reasonable than a "mine field" for a defence...
Heck, even a planetary based cannon is more realistic :)
I see mine fields as an artifact or other special bonus type of a structure but not at all a main weapon...

So far, the only thing Im hearing is a name change. You haven't proposed much toward any different or additional mechanics. I mean, if you rather Minefield be changed to Defense grid or planetary strike team or [insert cool name here] then theres not much to do but edit.

On the other hand, my take on the matter, NO MATTER what you call it, is why 'on Earth' (pun intended) are the minefields taking up building space!! Shields make sense. Sentries (if land-based) make sense, (thus your 'cannon') term, but perhaps the next evolutionary step in this game is also coodinating what goes on at an orbital level around our planets, and not just what's built on the ground.

actually ive been wondering the same thing if the mines are in space why does it take planetary room to add them .

a defense grid would be nice maybe 30 attack + 30 defense for each one and 1 space needed
a space station would be nice as well say 100 defense and 75 attack 75 cloak 1 space and add 20 space to planet as well but fairly high up on the tech tree so we don't get a space station on every tiny planet owned by a level 20 player

a planetary based defense fleet could be 60 def 20 attack 2 space
space station defense fleet 100 attack 65 def 1 space but have to have space station first

Fighters were briefly discussed as a planetary option as well.

I forgot to add you should only be able to have 1 space station per planet and it wouldn't take any space on planet to build
space based fighter defense limited to 4 or 5

i dunno just spitballin here
