This is an excellent idea and certainly a great improvement over the current in-game tutorial.

The in game tutorial isn't that bad, it is just almost 4 years old and because of that, misses out on a lot of the current great additions.

Like draxsiss said, a production mission would be useful, as would one on finding a legion.

This helps new players alot, It also likely will not upset established players (a free x3 mega rich planet that costs me no planet slot/conize fees) and a new extra ally for new stats.

Other suggestions,

One mission about hacking that takes blue badages, one about raiding that takes yellow. LIkely in the PVP section. (I realise most players save their yellows for armourys at the start however small 10 badge mission maybe that gives some crew bots to help in futuer raids? no idea how to work that ) I just think giving them a better debth in to hacking and perticuarly how important raiding is would also be a good idea.

While true, the current tutorial is more of a UI guide than anything else in my opinion. it probably could use some follow up tutorials such as what to do when a base is locked, when you find an enemy planet, where the legion chat is (this shouldn't even need a tutorial but so many new players seem to completely miss it until someone comms them notifying them that there's a legion chat at the very bottom of the page), or fighting a player's ship, alerts.

This is the most well thought out suggestion I think i have ever seen. Definitely giving it a +1. New player retention is important.

Well it was an ill considered idea in the first place.

And remember, because the planet can't be taken, it is a safe place for new player to put things the don't want lose.

Older player could either use it as an undefended/uncloaked storage planet or just a pure production where they can put things they might not on an undefended 3x planet.

Love it. The tutorial definatly needs a boost its probably putting off a lot of players before they have even started to get into the game. I'd like personaly to see maybe tacked on to the end of the tutorial the requirement to join a legion for the last mission to be completed.

+1 I love it ODragon

only 2 minor detalis I can see, that I dont like

Quote:
Gain: Robo-hauler Ally
Rank 75: +5% cargo (Fixed, no rank bonus)
Rank 100: +3% storage (Fixed, no rank bonus)

the % bonus helps high rank players more then it does new players
think it would be better for low rank players to simply get a fixed number like 5K cargo and 10K storidge from this ally

and the Deep-Core Exotic Extractor Blue-Prints*

Quote:
Deep-Core Exotic Extractor: Planetary building, size 1, mining/research/artifact +1. If built on an exotic or rift planet, production doubles and +50 Exotic Matter per hour per extractor. Cap for this would be equal to 1:100th your mining capacity including mining storage buildings. (Not sure if this is a viable option but would make smaller exotic planets a little more enticing). Max 1 per planet.

I agrey, small exotic planets could an upgrade and with the EM requirements for some of the legion mission we could use an alternativ way to get more EM
but I'm not sure making it a recurce you can get from exotic and rift planets would work very well

Cost: 10 energy

Gain: Home World coordinate data: Gives you an invulnerable, tiny toxic with all very sparse stats. Colonization of planet gives perm ability, stealth screen and explains colonization events.

Side note about planet: While invincible, I do not think it should be invisible or have major cloak to start with. When attacked, production is reduced by 50% for a period of 2 days and the game insta-fluxes it. This would give people an incentive to max out the passive cloak on it but would also allow people to use Uldri artifacts, etc on their planets. The person attacking would get a small random amount of arties/mining/research, maybe the equivalent of a 15 min of their production (Planetary Raid Cache).

so this is a planet that can be scanned, invincible, and still able to be attacked? Also, is this homeworld open to planetary events or no? I like the idea and would love a free storage planet

Invincible can't be invaded, not invincible, can't be attacked. It is a good point to clarify.

I think this needs a bump, as dan is reading suggestions/more active on the boards lately and this was a great one.

So, homeworlds as an advanced tutorial? Very good, retention of new people is essential, I really like this idea a lot. To echo someone above me, joining a legion should be included, as well as whats expected from bases etc. too many noob legions out there failing already, getting the bulk of them to combine forces and be resource independent....priceless. Recipe for success and a new ERA for GL. VERY WELL DONE.

It's already been implemented.... The Prismatic Planet is your Homeworld that requires you to upgrade it with costs of materials and energy. :)

was more refering too it as a great tutoral for new players then homeworld aspect of it. Also the fact that you have to wait 5 years to get access too it makes it kinda crappy, (serrouly if they made this available immediately at least we could start the low end ctp requirements/getting our planets productions up)
