Could you add the real name of the player under the player's alias even if they aren't in your legion? It's hard to tell friend from foe - you may be allied to a player through GL facebook groups but there's no way to tell, if they are using a different name.

I think aliases was introduced to provide anonymity to the players in the game. So what you are asking for may just defeat the purpose of aliases altogether. Why not just get your group members to post their aliases in a discussion thread?

Well I'd argue that changing your name ingame is the only real way to personalize your ship/captain's name. You may want to name your ship or change your "character's" name but still want to be identified for people adding them to their legion. Though I do understand that some may do it to hide their identity. I do think most player want to be found though - many players never reach 100 legion members and they will benefit and want to be benefited by atleast reaching 100.
