 ancient planets

There was this idea on another thread but I put it here because I think it was a good one. Ancient planets hold signs that the players were not the first to populate the planet, sometimes holding ruined cities full of discovery, factories that have not yet stopped, and even dark secrets. In game, there would be 4 'ancient' planets: ruins, machene, dark, and chaotic. Some strange buildings may still be working on such planets, usable (and not destroyable) by players. These are the discriptions:

Ruin Planet: holds old cities that can be explored, producing artifacts.

Machene Planet: made entirely of moving parts, even down to the core, these old mega-factories hold a lot of information in their databanks and the geo-machenes still turn out minerals.

Dark Planet: long ago, exotics were still the most usable planets. So, their powerful technology was used to keep the exotics fluxed forever! The devices are failing, so they might once again be descovered, but the constant flux has tainted the planets.

Chaotic: found in subspace where physics applies differently, the morphing balls of psudo-stuff are surounded by containment fields, so that researchers could study them without problems. Because they are so unique, the planets may experience strange effects that may help or hinder owners.

As for the buildings, I will leave it up to others to decide.

In 2 threads I think(both I posted in) it was suggested to add traits to planets. I really like the idea, it adds variety to the game.

Planets with distinctive characteristics? Crazy man crazy! In all honesty I hope this is included into the game to atleast some extent. Planets with special buildings, planets with special bad/good bonuses.

Since the planets seem to be good, I'll try making the 'ancient planet only' buildings now. (only 1 per planet [if at all], and cannot be distroyed) Also, I am attempting to make the 'random effects', that will occur (only 1 can be in effect at any time, changing each day) (on the next post)

Ancient Library- (machene or chaotic planet only) Built to contain vast amounts of knowledge, all it takes is to relearn the past. Grants research production and can give effects.

Ancient Temple- (ruin planet only) Built to worship gods of a bygone age, what was mystical to them can be useful to us. Grants effects.

Shadow Device- (dark planet only) It was built to keep the planet in constant flux, but age has caused it to malfunction. Grants effects.

Geomatter Device- (any but ruin planet, but most likely on machene planet) Built using technology beond our understanding, it seems to create minerals from nothing. Grants mineral production and can give effects.

Alchemy Device- (ruin planet only, but rare) The previous occupants seem to have discovered a way to transmute matter and energy! Grants effects.

Here are the effects, they are determined randomly from all effects available and can change each day. Effects of the planet itself are more common than the building effects, but 1 effect must be in use each day.

Strange Physics- (available on chaotic planet or from Alchemy Device) all resource availabilities of the planet are changed anywhere between -2 or +2 of original for that day.

Controled Security System- (available on ruin or machene planet) the planet gains a bonus to attack and defense for that day.

Rouge Security System- (available on ruin or machene planet) the planet gains a penalty to attack and defense for that day.

Divine Inspiration- (available from Ancient Temple or Ancient Library) the planet grants a small amount of research points (determined by rank) once for that day.

Divine Judgement- (available from Ancient Temple) resource availabilities of the ruin planet are -2 of original for that day.

Flux Failure- (available from Shadow Device, but rare) reveals the planet to one "scan for planets" that day.

Dark Flux- (available from Shadow Device, but rare) fluxes the planet once that day.

Corupted Data- (available from Ancient Library) reduces attack, defense, and cloak of planet a small amount for that day.

Geo Malfunction- (available from Geomatter Device) resource availabilities of the planet are -2 of original for that day.

Gaia Event- (available from Geomatter Device) resource availabilities of the planet are +2 of original for that day.

Dark Event- (available on dark planet) the planet gains a bonus to cloak for that day.

Planet Hostility- (available on dark planet) resource availabilities of the planet are -2 of original for that day.
