 Solo Base Attack

Just a stray thought prompted by one of Greenspleef's suggestions. When scanning for bases, add an option for a solo attack. Give the attacker an hour to take down the base by himself. If he does, he gets two red badges. This would help address the problem of dead bases and relieve some of the relentless attack pressure on any ship that crosses the 1k threshold and it would be pretty easy for active bases to defend against.

-1 This idea immensely devalues PVP, makes red badges overly abundant and leaves smaller legions under a constant threat...and they're not exactly safe right now anyway. Small legions would die out entirely if this came to pass.

-1 for a lot of reasons...


1. base attacks are meant to be a legion thing, not just one player killing easy glass basses

2. the reward of 2 red badges, please...., can easily cost me 50+ reds to scan the base I want to kill, so 2 red badges for a solo option kill is basickly nothing. and cant realy compair to the 100+ silver badges your legion will miss out on for from killing a level 7 base

3. locking a base, locks your scan funktion for 8 hours and should still do that even if you solo it

4. what pressure ? ? ?, base attacks dont prevent you from using halcs/Calming Amplifier so all they can do is artispam, if you can find the ship attacking your base that is...

Doesn't add any red badges since you're only getting back the badges you spent to scan the base. Not seeing the devalue on PVP since you still need it for any red badge battle market items and it's the easiest way to get yellow badges. Also the only way to wage private vendettas :twisted: The small legion pressure I can see, perhaps add a base ability to ward off solo attacks for 24 hours to keep active bases safe.

standart cost is, 5 red - 1 red for every Command Beacon on base (up to 3)

so unless your legion have 3 Command Beacon on base, 2 red doesnt even cover your scanning cost

There's also the question of why spend 2 red badges on a base for an hour or the same for an 8 hour base?
You can fit in dozens a day or a couple a day...it's obvious what everyone would go with. Legion basing would be eradicated.

The problem I'm trying to address is the fact that I'm killing the same targets over and over to get the 50 or so reds I need to find a decent base. Boring for me, boring and annoying for them. The problem is that a good percentage of the bases I'm scanning are dead bases with no active players. The obvious solution of cleaning these out of the database has been discussed elsewhere. My alternative would basically give me the option of burning my energy taking out a dead base rather than kill two of the usual suspects again just because someone felt like creating another legion and abandoning the same day. It wouldn't give me a raid, wouldn't count as a lock, it would just give me another scan.

you know i mentioned that once...if the list was cleaned up...maybe a quick catalogue by topic..a mini wiki if you will...or something more coheisve...some of the ideas have merit ...others are at least intriguing...but the voluminous amount to pile through makes many people just look past it.

I don't like this idea. Base locks should lock scanning for bases for 8 hours, not 1 hour, and it should be a legion-wide thing. If you don't want to share your bases with others, make your own solo legion.
