Taken down, pending further thought on the matter.

-1 this is just exoticas influence but over a longer time scale and geared to give a bigger reward to lower ranks for no apparent reason

Good luck getting it out of the hands of the top few legions for even a few minutes.

The reasoning being to ( Hopefully. ) provide newer players some more stuff to do, in an attempt to grow the player base. I didn't explain that in the initial post because I felt it was self evident. My apologies. Darth Flagitious wrote: Good luck getting it out of the hands of the top few legions for even a few minutes. I was attempting to scale the rewards down to the higher levels in an attempt to keep it away from that point. ( With some of the higher level legions, even doubling base production, it still would only amount to roughly one hour's worth of player production, thus being less of an incentive for them to go for it. For the lower levels, it could mean multiple days personal production every 24 hours, which is quite a bit of incentive to be active and attempt to gain control over the planet. )

I actually specifically addressed it with my reply to Darth Flagitious. I felt that the scaling down of rewards was sufficient, as several of the upper legions I have been to don't take exotica for anything other than getting the medal for their members. Once their members have the medals, they seem to more or less ignore it, as base production quickly takes back seat to player's personal production.

As a high rank in a top legion where the base payout is crap compared to my hourly.
We would take the planet and we would keep the planet.
To further clarify. If exotica medal didn't stop us from invading after we got the medal, we (eots) would continue to hold exotica.
Why? Because we can easily keep it and more artifact for us no matter how small is better than more artifact for other people. It's also just plain fun.

I was unaware of that restriction that came with the medal. I had assumed it was general apathy, due to the rewards not being sufficient to merit the effort. Evidently, my assumption was wrong, which presents a fatal flaw in my idea. I shall have to give this some more consideration. Thank you for the feed back.

There was a nice idea for contested planet for lower ranks.
First thing is restrictions on rank. Only way you'll stop people like me from taking the planet.
Second problem is the SSB low ranks that are just impossible to kill while online for other low ranks. Rank 300 that needs 100 min hits to kill isn't likely to be killed while online if only other rank 300 are hitting off the planet.
To counter this and further encourage team activity and participation I would go with a planet that warps it's own guards off at random. Every hour 3 ships get warped away and they can't regard for 4 hours

Perhaps have a medal that, like the Exotica medal, makes it where you can't invade again, but like the years of activity medals, you have to be X rank to gain it...?

Lack of stuff to do is not what it is limiting low level player base growth...

Could also bring up the large numbers of Homeworld suggestions that would also help...

The only able to invade once feature is terrible. I would like to invade exotica all the time.
The idea of Making it easier for people to get over time makes people apathetic about getting it today. Initially most people ignored exotica after the 2.0 medal came out because they were just gonna wait for Cosa and Eots to get their medals.
That's why we still sometimes just kill exotica guards even though we can't invade it. Gotta make people work for the medal.
