I haven't thought about it at all. or what they could do or have.
but it would be very nice to have them as a playable race.

But given the other effects on production (addressing the EM topic) and structures, it could be a good base for new race... still it is early, cause first a mission chain would be needed.

Dan is not going to make this a playable Race, it would lose its appeal to people as a Seasonal Event otherwise.
