 Filter planets by artifact

I've been thinking of how to best keep track of special limited artifacts, and I thought it would make it easy to have the ability to type in the artifact in the "Filter Planets by Info:" box and then any planet with that artifact on it would show up on the list.

I'm keeping a spreadsheet, but I have to look through every planet and it takes so long I just don't do it. This would be much easier to find them.

Feedback and thoughts on this idea?

So you have a different color flag for every artifact you want to keep track of? That's what probably 10-12? Sure.

Sadly, your idea would severely increase lag, especially when scanning.

At present, I believe that the only things requested on the planet page are Planet Name, Planet Size and Planet Resource.
Even with these very limited variables, scan lag can be very painful for some.
Everything else to do with the planet, such as structures and effects is requested after the Planet Name is clicked.

With even a moderate number of occupied planets, requesting all the information about every planet every time you click on the planet tab would be a lag-inducing heartache.

How about a separate box then, that would only request the information about artifacts on the planet when you type in it. Otherwise it loads as it currently does. That way it doesn't request it every time you click on the planet page, just when you want it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Well, I could have, but you get my point.

So, now you're suggesting it polls the server after every letter I type (accomplishing the same delays previously mentioned) or I press <enter> and things bog out for 5+ minutes while it looks at all 1200 planets in my database?

Alright then, so you have another suggestion (other than flags)?

I'm just trying to get some discussion going on how to make this something that is effective and useful. If you shoot down my idea, because it increases lag or whatever, then perhaps you could be more constructive and offer a suggestion as to how it can be done better.

So rather than have it poll the server after every letter you type, put a button next to it that says search, and then when you hit that button, it polls the server then. Got a better idea, or do you just think that the idea itself is no good?
