I think new artifact chassis would be great to be included with the existing ones:

Ion Cannon Uplink:
AP Cost: 2500
Size: 1
Research: +1
Limit one per planet.

Ion Cannon Satellite:
AP Cost: 2500
Size: 1
Required: Ion Cannon Uplink
Research: +2
Attack: 250
Limit one per planet.

Reactor Chassis:
AP Cost: 2000
Size: 1
Artifact: +2
Mining: +1
Limit one per planet.

Hydro-Plant:
AP Cost: 2250
Size: 1
Artifact: +2
Research: +1
Can only be constructed on Oceanic Planets.
Limit one per planet.

Thermal/Frozen Plant:
AP Cost: 2250
Size: 1
Mining: +2
Can only be constructed on Volcanic and Icy Planets.
Limit one per planet.

Thermal/Frozen Satellite:
AP Cost: 2250
Size: 1
Research: +2
Can only be constructed on Volcanic and Icy Planets.
Limit one per planet.

Thermal/Frozen Reactor:
AP Cost: 2250
Size: 1
Artifact: +2
Can only be constructed on Volcanic and Icy Planets.
Limit one per planet.

Advanced Warp Gate Chassis:
AP Cost: 5000
Size: 1
Mining: +2
Artifact: +2
Research: +2
Limit one per planet.

Maybe there could be missions to create these say 50 energy and 1 Spy Uplink with ten completions makes for a Spy Satellite.
Size 1
Adds +1 research
Doubles the effects of spy uplink chassis on the planet.
Limit 1

Phase Wave Channeler
Adds +1 mining
Doubles the effects of Phase chassis on the planet.
Limit 1

Space Transit Hub
Adds +1 Artifact
Doubles the effects of Space Elevators on the planet.
Limit 1

Then maybe your Ion Uplinks could be made from 75 energy 1 pahse chassis and one spy uplink 5 completions.

also the word chassis implies that there are more parts. a car has a chassis along with other parts.......add the rest of the parts do them

like, just an example i KNOW this is unbalanced.

all upgrades add 1 space, but there are 7 upgrades and it only takes up four spaces but only goes down in size when ALL upgrades are added.

ok on a planet start with the space elevator chassis(everything needs the previous structure to build the next)
then you can build a space elevator freight car (adds +1 to mining)
then you can build a space elevator freight defenses (adds 250 attack)
then you can build a space elevator enhanced freight gears (+50 to defense)
then you can build a space elevator population hub (+100 to population)
then you can build a space elevator deep core anchor (+100 to defense)
then you can build a space elevator deep core anchor mine (+1 artifact)
then you can build the final part the space elevator integrated city (+1 to artifact and research, +100 to population , +50 to attack
and +100 to defense)

of course all the other parts are rare. this would be cool.

oh and only one of each of the upgrades are allowed on the planet......you can have one.....space elevator city or whatever a good name would be.....and then you could have the other space elevator but not upgrade it

I think this is a fair suggestion. It makes sense, and after a bit of balancing stuff, you could make planetary structures an awful lot more interesting.

i like the idea of unlockable buildings. its like every building game that requires a town center before you can build a barracks. i would like to see this incorporated so that players would have to choose and make sacrifices for specific buildings. Either these blueprints would be unlocked through missions OR a seperate research chain.

You have to balance it, out. A game is all about balance, to much or less on way, and the game could be ruined

I like all your ideas, and would love to have them, but take a step back for one minute.
The chassis would be abused, people would do more chassis and increase there planetary firepower even more.
I think you need to re-think, make the new chassis cost more AP.

You need to make it so it can't be abused or unbalanced.

In order, mine is to replace yours, but i've tryed to make it more balanced. (to show what it should be like, you can copy if you wish)


Zolazin Shroud Chassis
Cost: 4,500 (Replacing Flux AP slot)
Size: 2
Cloak: 50
Research: 1
One Per Planet


Ion Cannon Satellite:
Cost: 4,000 AP (Replacing terraforming Slot)
Size: 2
Mining: 2
Attack: 100
One Per Planet.


Reactor core Chassis:
AP Cost: 7,500 (New Slot)
Size: 2
Artifact: +2
Limit one per planet.


Hydro-Plant chassis:
AP Cost: 10,000 (replace alien charts)
Size: 2
Artifact: +1
Population: 25
Doubles on, Terra, Giga, Triples on oceanic
On desert, volcanoes and icy, there is no output. (Useless)
Limit one per planet.


Temperature Control Plant chassis:
AP Cost: 12,500 (New Slot)
Size: 1
Mining: +1
Research: +1
Triples mining on volcanoes but loses research.
Triples Research on Icy, But loses mining
Limit one per planet.

Advanced Warp Gate Chassis:
AP Cost: 15,000 (Replacing Mass Melter slot)
Size: 1
Doubles the effect of the Warp Chassis
Limit one per planet.
