Currently there is only one attack section on the ship screen, combining both ship attack and the extra invasion attack bonus on specific modules. I propose that we seperate the ships weapons from invasion weapons, i.e. the Mech XV would fall under this new catagory whilst the cannons would fall under the former. For research there could be
-New Body Armor/Weapons for soldiers -Mobilized Armor (the mechs, tanks, hoverbunkers, whatever) -Airforce (like the banshees from halo or related stuff)
I am proposing this because it seems highly unlikely that you can capture a planet with one ship and no ground troops. The Armor and Aircraft would take up hanger space, and the hanger itself would take up decks. The soldiers would take up quarters, (something i read in another players post), and the quarters would take up deck space.
On the second note, for this to be truely effective and not just a way for higher level players to gang up on lower levels, there should be NPC controlled planets. These planets would have NPCs guarding them- either a single common/uncommon NPC, or an Elite NPC with several other commons (maybe one elite and 3 commons).
These planets would have about 50/50 of resource production and attack/defence, BUT instead of the buildings that every player has access to through the regular research chain these planets would have 'special race' buildings, like, say, Lazuli Refineries built on the planet, or Sha'din Research bases. These buildings would be either the same proportion as the mid level game buildings with added attack, defence, or cloak, or they would have a better production:space ratio.

I'm indifferent to the seperating of weapons, but I love the second idea of npc controlled planets. This would be really awesome, and to have planets that need coordinated attacks would be great.

thanks for your support! i figure planetary invasions are fun, and losing planets isnt, so why not have NPC planets just like there are NPC ships
