Enforceable alliance relations

I'd like to suggest that the option for two legions to enter into a hard coded relation be added.
What I mean by this is that if two legions were to agree on a treaty or non-agression pact, the game's coding would prevent those alliances from being able to perform hostile actions against ships or planets that belong to a legion they have a treaty with.
At the same time, alliances could enter into an open war agreement in which players that belonged to legions your alliance was at war with would have a higher chance of appearing in the battle tab, or something along these lines at least.
Obviously, the option to enter into one of these agreements would be purely by choice so this feature forces nothing on anyone and provides a little more flexibility to those willing to use this if implemented.
Thoughts?

I was going to suggest the same thing. I would love the option to go to war or tho have a NAP with another alliance.
I think that if one alliance would go to War with another then the rank limits of the members you can see, in your battle tab, from the other alliance should be larger. Also I think that you should be able to hit them more often then normal by increasing the amount of times they can be hacked, raided, and disabled. Also maybe have a leader chart for just the legions at war to see that keeps track of disables, hacks, raids, and planets taken somewhere to help keep track of who is winning and who is losing. Then either alliance could end the war at any time.
Next with the NAP's I think with these it you would be able to alert a enemy ship or a planet to your ally's as well only if you choose to. To help make the NAP more profitable for everyone. Also I did like the idea of taking them off your battle tab and not having their planets able to be taken from you.
Both WARS and NAP's most be agreed on by both leaders as well. But either leader could end the WAR or NAP at any time as well with a 24 hour delay.
Thoughts?

You wouldnt need an agreement from the opposing legion. Just a button next to a selected legion for either 'at war' or 'friendly' Maybe limiting the legions you can add to the list since there are already so many...

I think it would be more personal for both legions and would add more options to the process instead of just having a tag that says we attack them and we don't attack them. If both alliance's agreed on a war than you could add those things to the game because both alliance's agreed to the war knowing what would happen if they agreed.

Oh i dont want to take away from the immersiveness of the game, im simply looking at it from a sheer coding POV. Theres a LOT of legions, if we were to start adding and deleting naps and at wars with the bunch of em... etc.
I for one, support any tool that increases communication and efficiency amongst legionmates/players.

Having played several other real time strategy games, the idea of developing relationships with other legions is useful. But... the implications of it being hardcoded would cause problems in my opinion with two many legions and implosion of legions etc. I like the suggestion of a button that says you declare war or declare allies. The communicating overall in GL needs to be revamped. Alliances would bring in the additional complication of communicating between alliances. The 5 energy cost to talk to a person specifically in your legion would be beneficial if that was gotten rid of.
