 Potential cheater ?

Hello, I would like to ask a question about some guy that disabled me recently.
I'm not really new to this game but that's some things I find strange with him.
One image speaking better than a thousand word here is his ship : 400 attack and 165 def according to my probes, he got no artifact on and his ship is almost naked, he got a merged microgel armor, and 4x dominion cannon.

Still this guy manages to kick my ass everytime I try to retaliate. I'm not complaining about the disabling or anything, I get disabled a lot, that's how the game works nothing wrong with it but come on, how can he got these huge stats (for our levels) with a naked ship and 6 level minus.
And also how does kick my ass so easily while his stats are under mine, each time I strike he does me 75 damages and I do him something like 16.

Am I crazy to think this guy is cheating shamelessly ?

Their stats are similar to yours because they likely have a large numbers of both Tactical Officers and Helmsmen in their Crew.

This suspicion is confirmed by the fact that they have far fewer Decks than you, and thus the amount of damage you can inflict upon them is restricted by the Rank Equation Damage Cap to forty-six. They probably have fifty-six Decks or so; meanwhile, you have closer to three-hundred, so their cap on you is determined by the Decks Equation Damage Cap at somewhere between one-hundred-twenty-five and one-hundred-fifty.

Yeah, he has about the same attack and defense, but a lot fewer decks, so they take less damage.

Damage Cap, Another Scout ship, hate them. They Mass Recruit Tactical Officers and take advantage of the Damage Cap.
Shouldn't he be a Konqul Fixer?

True, small ship builds is slow death. They will eventually have to invest in decks, and when they do, they will be massively behind.

Okey so having lots of decks is a huge drawback and I m building my ship wrong from the beginning if I understand well ? :)

No you are doing it right, that guy whoever you are fighting is taking a rush build, he is only strong at low ranks, he mass recruits Tactical Officers, in later gameplay. We call this a scout build. It has many disadvantages

- No space to install scanners to scan for planets
- Minimal energy, unable to do much
- Slow ranking
- Slow Death, you will eventually beat and overwhelm him in the long run.

Continue investing in decks. This is the standard build just like me. :)

Since that guy is Rank 54, if he spent all his rank points into Tactical Officers 54x5x2 = 540 +160 Attack from cannons = 700 attack. Evidently, he has invested some rank points into decks though.

Always good to learn things.
But why did the devs include the decks in the damage you take or give ? I don't really see the use of that.

Damage cap is designed to prevent large ships picking on little ones. it does this by having the maximum deal-able damage dependent on your opponents ship size (scout, cruiser ect). however in this case, your opponent has used his knowledge of the loop hole for evil.

damage cap is either:
1) half your decks (IE 500/20 = 250 max damage)
2) Your (level/2) + 19 (IE (200/2)+19 = 119 max damage)
which ever is greater

Yes, you are correct; it's because you start at level 1 with 20 decks, so this makes the minimum damage cap equivalent to 1 deck per rank.
