Decided to use the first of my protogrids tonight... Used slightly over 400 purgers and got down to around 600-650 planets. The protogrid has a 5 minute timer. Between each planet found there is about 10-20 seconds of lag. So my limited scan artifact got me about 30 planets total before expiring. (This has nothing to do with internet speed either. The game just slows down to a crawl when your database gets large.) In the future I guess I'll have to purge every single planet before using rare artis like that.

Set your page to "Recently Scanned". That way it doesn't lag as much.

Newly Scanned list with the filter set to artifact minimizes such problems as they are both the least common planet resource type as well as the only kind of planet someone your rank wants anyways.
If you still have problems I can't help you except to say that either A: your connection to the server sucks. or B: you might need a better computer.

I've found that (for example) Chrome is faster than Firefox at refreshing the planet data and my Chromebook is faster than Chrome on my Laptop. Really, I'd rather that behind-the-scenes "refresh" not take place until after the scan for new planets window is closed.

Actually, set it to Analyze availible, that reduces the lag a lot. And you might need to resart ur browser if it keeps going like that.

The game/javascript have a very huge garbage collector problem. each time it receive data it will pile up in the memory. and it wont be cleared asap.... whilefarming npc i can get the game as high as 1.5Go memory used...... i will not blame Dan since this is probably related to how bad is javascript at handling memory/garbage collector.
so basicaly : use chrome (faster at handling javascript), get better computer (memory, ssd, faster)

Using firefox: use memoryfox plugin set to activate on browser only will fragment memory less quickly but it can also be used to restart it to free up all the memory and not load all the windows until clicked - can be useful.
Using Chrome: as a proper multiprocess browser, you can simply close the window and reopen it to regain memory, although the same leaks occur it will last longer and go faster than FF - esp. with like 400+ planets (sorting javascript runs much faster, FF kind of hangs here).
Using IE: who in their right mind games on IE ? You get what you get.

In addition to scanning only on Chrome, with Recently Scanned filtered to Artifact, also make sure your Cargo is stacked. Not sure why it matters on tabs other than Trade, but it makes a huge difference sometimes.

I have found that setting planet filter to "analyze available" works very well. (also make sure to close anything you aren't using, that helps too)
Admittedly I have found this to be useless above about 500 planets, it just lags majorly.
