I am curious if my account and my son's account will get banned just because we both use the only computer we have in the house. I have been playing this game for over a year and now that my son knows how to use the computer(6 years old), he wants to play the same game I am playing. He has his own FB account for games only, its on the same computer, but on a different browser. I know it may come up as the same IP address, but want to know if it is going to conflict with the rules as he plays his own, and I play my own. I don't want my account to be banned just because my son wants to play the game on the only computer we have. I don't want to let him use my account and mess up everything I have worked on such as abandoning planets, selling parts cause he thinks the other(lesser modules) are better cause they look cool. Please help me on this, I want to make sure I am not doing anything wrong here.

Dan will have to answer this one as the moderators do not know the answer.

I can warn you though that Facebook's minimum age requirement is 13 years old: reference.

Not that I have any official authority on this. but I don't think this will be a problem:

(1) There are "suspected" multi's all over the place, yet we don't see much related investigative activity.
(2) The same IP (as may be seen from Dan's end) does not mean that one person is tied to multiple accounts. There are so many ways that multiple users can have the same IP (same household, hotels, dorm rooms, Starbucks free WiFi, proxies, libraries, Internet Cafes, etc) - it means nothing. There are likely quite a few husband/wife, roomate/roomate, parent/child combos playing the same facebook games.

See, which is my situation with #2 that you mentioned. Only reason I asked is cause in my son's legion that I had put him in that will help him out, they put up in their notification that there will be a IP scan and multi-users will be banned. Which got me concerned.

And as for the FB usage age mentioned by Mr. Spock, my son has no friends except for me on his account. reason for the minimum of 13 restriction is due to certain games, which I am watching him on, as well as offensive and not age appropriate images posted by other people. I have control of his acct, and am watching what he does on it. Unlike others that I know that actually don't care about what their under 13 yr old kid is doing. Either way, FB really doesn't know its a little kid on it. Hell, I know alot of my daughters friends that are on FB and they are all between 10-12.

Yep, Chumm, my mom got me a Facebook account when I was 11, and my brother one when he was 9, but she has been watching us ever since. For a while, she friended everyone that we had friended. She also made sure that we did not play certain games, such as Mafia Wars.
Anyways, on-topic, I do not think it would get you banned as long as there was not excessive transfer of materials from the smaller account to the larger account.

lol @ the noobs. The other players can't get your IP address. And even if they could, it doesn't mean anything. And by "Can't", I mean .... nevermind. Go ahead and reply.

By can't I am assuming it's against the ToS. That's what i recall, however, I also think there is a law against that anyway.

There are no laws concerning that this forum collects ip address everywhere you browse has access to your Ip address.

OK, I know someone is going to reply with something like "oh yeah, what if they are hackers? *insert shifty-eye logo here*", but other PLAYERS cannot get your IP address through the game. Anyone with access to the game server (Dan, for example) can get your IP. Or maybe he can only see Facebook's IP (yours being hidden under the API?). I don't know, but maybe forum admins and mods can see your IP. Either way, it doesn't matter because multiple users on the same IP does not imply a multi-ToS-violating account.

Thats how packets get from node to node on the Internet, by using IP address. The other end of any connection NEEDS your IP for anything to work.

The requests will be made directly to the galaxy legion website. Having developed (part of) a FB app, I happen to know that the API is only ever used for social interactions and log ins. Sharing things and such. Everything else directly goes through the website. Mostly, it'll be your FBID used to identify you. Getting the user's IP address is not covered in the FB API (it literally just covers social stuff), but Dan will most probably have access to it from requests to his server.

Basically, all the apps.facebook.com/galaxylegion website is, is a window which you can see through to galaxylegion.com/galaxylegion/ where the game is hosted.

I'm 99% sure forum admins can see IP addresses, having admin'd a forum of this software.

So there you have it. Dan and the Forum Mods have your IP Address. I don't know why they would care if one player happened to be using the same IP as another player for some span of time, but they have the ability to know that.
