this planet had ZERO defense!!! i had atmospheric decimator, there was no attack or defense! how was this a failure!!??!!!

if there is a random chance to fail an invasion i would prefer to see the message "your weapons overloaded from the orbital bombardment. you retreat to space to repair"

you have to realize there's a difference between an unoccupied world and a world owned by someone...

a unoccupied world is disorganized and not loyal to anyone... easy to take over....

if a player owns a world, the population there knows that person, and is loyal to them, and is producing for them...
so even if someone comes in with guns blazing saying you are now my slaves, there's a flat 10% chance the people will resist the invasion and kick you off their planet, even without planet defenses
think of it sort of like a loyalty bonus for planets to invasion resistance

it's called hit and run, very effective in rural and poor sight terrain such as jungle.... that's what caused America to have a chance of failure in Vietnam.
