Ok, on my first pass I couldn't use it when I hit 9 steps left. Said I had to finish it by hand, I get that and understand it.
Now on my 2nd pass, I have 16 steps left and it's not letting me skip 10.

Each time you go through the mission, you can use one less anti-cryptex. So first cycle, you can use 9, second cycle 8, third cycle 7, and so on... Main reason it was declared "Worst Mission Ever"

trust me it's worth finishing it, those data analyzers are horrible, I had 2-3 on my battle tab at a time and i had more Anti-Cryptex than I could use!

Enjoy 7 more ranks then regret those "horrible" data analyzers. Oh you will, you will.

I think I have 40 of those crap arti's.

I max out on reasearch in like 9 hours, so more sceintists don't help me much.

And it wasn't a 10, 9, 8, 7, etc for me

it was 8, 7, 6, then I just quit doing them.

I don't know if anyone told you guys but those rogue data analyzers end up being good xp once your attack gets higher. Someone I know even neglected to finish the chron-shifter mission for the fact that having other NPCs around with a good xp return makes flamehawks slightly less annoying once you get to rank 350.

And that's the truth. Rogue data analyzers are 7 hits for 50 experience and 200 rp whilst flamehawks (and these won't ever ever stop spawning) are 12-14 hits for 20 experience and a chance to get a crimson obelisk. I will never ever end that mission.

Decrypting the Vault
Rewards: 400 1(on completion)
Risks: (Optional) Hunt Rogue Data Analyzer ships to complete mission faster.

RSL Anti-Cryptex , adds 10 completion steps to the decrypting the vault

I used it, and it did nothing. 0/100 complete

Hi

We recently captured a Rogue Science League ship with a secure memory vault. Most of it is heavily encrypted. Brute forcing the encryption will take a long time. The process will go much faster if you find some of their Rogue Data Analyzer ships.

Rewards: 400 1(on completion)
Risks: (Optional) Hunt Rogue Data Analyzer ships to complete mission faster.
This mission unlocks a new challenge after 10 completion(s)You qualified for this mission from: Hacking Experience

Per Round Requirements: Energy 178, (Optional) Use RSL Anti-Cryptex to add 10 credits towards mission completion

so ... did I miss something?

you have to have clicked the first attempt on the mission at least once before you can ever use the very first Anti-Cryptex
(i think it says this on the anti-cryptex's description)

then...
on 0 completions you can use 9 anti-cryptex
on 1 completion you can use 8 anti-cryptex
on 2 completions you can use 7 anti-cryptex
on 3 completions you can use 6 anti-cryptex
on 4 completions you can use 5 anti-cryptex
on 5 completions you can use 4 anti-cryptex
on 6 completions you can use 3 anti-cryptex
on 7 completions you can use 2 anti-cryptex
on 8 completions you can use 1 anti-cryptex
on 9 completions you can use 0 anti-cryptex

Total 45 anti-cryptex... any beyond that you can scrap for cash

RSL ship= CRAP!! but good exp later....

ZOLAZIN ships= SWEET!! 2-4 hits, 18 exp per hit, 50ish on kill ( for me as a human with exp buffs) do the math and 86 exp for 2 hits on the lvl 230. and it drops zol tech which some ppl want

I'm surprised he hasn't changed them to be like other mission artifacts, so you can't send them.

It could best if the mission is completed before start on other mission if go on special npc hunting. I'm so glad that I had the mission done before I can go on npc hunting for lazuli parts runners without have analyzers hogging up the npc slots.

I deliberately left this mission open; on a good night I can pull an hour's worth of research out of those little buggers in 200 RP increments.

I did the math early on, and deliberately decided I was not going to finish the Decrypting The Vault mission. I finished it 9 of 10 times, and stopped. I cant say anything else in that chain is worth getting rid of such an awesome NPC.

Not only do they give you +200 Energy, their native (un-buffed) XP/Energy Ratio is 3.67 XP/E for six hits! With a Neural Interface they are 4.2 XP/E for six hits! (4.63 XP/E if you can get an RSL Memory Implant!!)

The Next mission gives you 10x one time battles which will get you a 10 Size 3 +3 research buildings (w/ +50 DFF +100 CLK). There is NO information as to whether there is even another mission after that.

A 1:1 research building giving three (3) points of research on the Mission Build Dyson Sphere would give an extra 55 Research per hour. (The planet limit is not listed in the Wiki, but usually it's one per planet for these type of artifacts.) So long as I can kill seven (7) RSL Data Analysers per day, I make more Research off of the NPCs.

Obviously even low level players can eat more than seven (7) of these in a day, and even the most diligent mission runner will take a very long time to finish the Decrypting The Vault Mission, furring which their Max E/ATK/DEF all will increase making these occur more and be easier to kill over time.

IF you had 10x Mission Dyson Spheres, (Which is no longer possible now that they cannot be traded,) the bonus would be 550 RP per hour, meaning you would need to kill 66 RSL NPCs (1980 Energy just in RSLs, but at a great XP/E Ratio and if you had 10x Dysons I'm betting you'd have far more Energy than 1980, however hos much more would you need?)

Now the only problem would be how often they occur, I still have not bothered to try to spade this info vMuch, I find it tedious; but I've heard of people who run MACs who are using Apple-Script to scrape the data from their battles and get ratios. Maybe one of those people can step forward, but my guess is they appear maybe 1 in 10 NPCs killed. So if the average NPC you hit takes, lets say 6 hits, and the RSLs take 8, and you get 1 RSL every 20 NPCs, you will need to spend 2170 energy to kill 7 RSLs (PS: If anyone has a good Idea how to do this data-scraping easily on a PC I would love to know what I should use and who to do it. I would want to dump the info into a MS SQL Database so I could get detailed statistics and I would start to collect this data and populate percentages into the Wiki! ) Best of all they will be occurring in the same space as the flame-Hawk, which once you are over rank 350 is a bane to your existence.

Based off the above it looks like I would be killing about 22 per energy refill, gaining 4,400 RP per energy refill. This is a nice little chunk of research! While, at my level I make far more than this an hour, but when the XP/E ratio of the NPC is so good, and when they help decrease the number of flame hawks you encounter, I would argue they are one of the best Mission NPCs around!

-Q

(Note: The BEST Mission Non-Matched NPC I have found to date is the "Chron Shift Carrier" very easy to get minimum shots even at a low rank because it is not matched. The Best Matched Mission NPC I have found is the "Titancore Pod")
