You would think that should be the case, but as you can clearly see below, it's not.

Engineered Virus doesnt but the others do. I know that from experience.

Yes like the unstable wormhole emitter artifact and the Quantum Bio Vaporizer

My point is that a biological attack should alert if something like a Quantum Flare does so, which clearly defies common sense since their scanners would be down and they wouldn't know who did it.

Here's a potential half-solution I kind of came up with on another thread:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9243&p=77832#p77832

Planetary distress beacon:
Planet Trap (lasts 1 week, you can only have one in effect at any one time, 48 hour cooldown between uses)
Automatically alerts your legion if your planet is attacked. Alert happens regardless of current alert timer. Alert lasts 12 hours. The attacker is not notified, and their name is revealed to the legion.
Rare NPC drop?

I like your idea, Spyders, but an easier solution is to make the Engineered Virus work just like every other single offensive artifact.

True, and should't be too hard to implement either because there should still be the basic code from the ship artifacts.

Or, simpler still, they could just copy and paste the coding from the Unstable Wormhole Emitter or the Quantum Bio-Vaporizer onto the Engineered Virus.

if u think about it. an engineered virus, being used at full pop has ABSOLUTELY no effect on the planet.... therefore no reason to alert. those who believe it does inform you may have had theirs used after an attack, where it actually had an effect. (slowing the growth down)

1st grade philosophy there ppl!!!

This was after an attack, they anonymously reduced the population to one, anonymously failed the invasion, and then anonymously used the Engineered Virus in hopes they would find a softer target tomorrow when their invasion timer resets or have one of their other legion mates invade without having to reduce the population again before I woke up and logged in.

+1 you're absolutely right because engineered virus does no damage to the planet there is no need to alert it...
so the only solution I can see is when you're alerted that your planet is under attack add the name of the attacker, after all if someone beating da hell out of you, the least is you see who it is (that is till you get one in the eyes  )

The engineered virus was supposed to include a player link like all other similar artifacts. It will be fixed.

Awesome, thanks Dan! You really are by far the best and most interactive developer of any game I've ever played.

I disagree, if the person failed invasion, he shouldn't earn a beating for the next 2 days.
They're alarm sentries and Grav-whip traps that can identify the attacker as well as Flux Tracers.
The Planet Traps last one week. If the attacker really wants the planet and also an idiot he will try again soon thus setting the traps off.
