 Slight NPC miscalculation?

I was plowing through some NPC's earlier hoping to come across some rares. I discovered something else instead. There might be a minor error in the scientist race stats. Forgive me for not memorizing the exact numbers while i smashed them but it is something like this. The ones at level 60 have about 600 shield and i think 200 defense. The ones at level 100 have a defense of 300 but their shields are at 400. It is nice because they reward 220 research but I just wanted to be honest. Bottom line is that the ones at level 60 take me about 8 or nine shots to take out but the level 100 ones i can take down in only 4 or 5 hits.

New Tech ships = 300 attack 700 defense? (or are they the next step up?)

Nope they are the new improved ships lol :<.

You don't have to worry about 7-9 shotting them anymore at level 100 since they are like 15 shots now or more. I hope the 'reward' has been increased accordingly.

Damn, I wondered why the Tech Surveyor I just went up against almost flattened me when I can normally take them out in five shots with almost no damage at all to my shields. I was hoping this change was a bug... :( :lol:

Lol. That is bad.. I did 2-3 shots at old techs to destroy for 200 RP. Not bad return for 10 or 15 energy depends on random of the roll. I haven't faced new ones yet.

Nope, same reward as before, but much more difficult to take out... I took out two of the "updated" versions just to make sure that I was not experiencing a glitch... I am going to pass on them from now on though because I have better uses for my energy right now... :?

Sadly MK, I have decided my '10-13 shots' would be better used on 'mission energy' rather than 220 rp. If it was boosted to 400-500 rp, then it would still be worth it.

1090 attack power versus this guy's 700 defense yields me hits of 100 points of damage. So with the artifacts in place I can 9 shot them. The math is all messed up still though because 1090-700 = 390 NOT 100 so I don't get why I cannot do the damage I should be able to do. Ran the same test when his defense was reduced by 50% so defense = 350. Now I do 150 damage per hit. 1090-350 = 740 NOT 150. Dan can you please explain this one and if the NPCs are 'ship size' based please put their size on their description.

What makes you think the damage calculation is based on simple subtraction?

Your numbers suggest that the underlying damage/defense logic is sound: You reduced his defense by 50% and your damage increased by 50%.

So I just fought a Dark Trafficker VI
Rank 105

It had 1000 Shields and 500 Hull.

When I got it down to 305 Hull, it said 33% Stable.

It is definitely calculating oddly.
