well, research in the end only goes so far, but you do need to increase it, mining is needed because things will get VERY expensive the higher up you go in the research tiers, artifacts are the cash cow of the game, you will never have enough. whether you're in a war or if you're just wanting them to use for the base lab blueprints.

maxing planet buildings comes down to one main things, how can see how much things can cost. Het past that and you can be great.

If you've already hit your planet max (read: the maximum number of planets you can have until you reach the next required level to conquer another planet) then focus on building up the planets you already have with better modules. This will take research points and more research points. However, it pays for itself in the end.

Focus your research points on your planetary construction tier. Once you get new mining, artifacts and research modules for the planets you already have, those points you just wasted pay for themselves.

A thing to remember though, make sure your mining, artifact and research output match your cargo hold space. There's no point in having a high production rate if you don't have a place to store all of those minerals and artifacts. The same can be said for research points. If you're cranking out research points to the point where you hit your research level max for your ship faster betweem your logins, you're actually wasting points. If that's the case, you can shift your focus to other fields.

the above is good advice, ultimately you will still aim for 10k of each resource so theres alot of growth dont worry about the research tree ending
