I noticed something fishy with hacking RP's. Here's the deal.
I'm rank 210 and I have a few friends above rank 300. They alert a rank 400+ guy, and we all hack the same person. I get about 400 RP's on average from the rank 400+, while my rank 300+ buddies get 500 - 600 RP's on average per hack. Now I go hack low levels on my battle tab and I get 200 - 300 RP's from level 150's.
Why are the high levels hacking for more RP's from the same high level player as me, when I'm supposed to be hacking about TWICE as much RP's on average (800+) per hack due to my lower level (half their levels)? It doesn't look like hack RP amount is based on level at all.
Your theory is wrong. The research you get from hacking increases the higher the rank of your target, but your target more than likely also has more scan to block you, which means few critcals and higher rolls needed for successful hacks. I also tend to think there's more research awarded the better your "roll" is. AKA, the closer you get to a critical hack, the more research it will reward. Also it seems the more research the target has the more you can take to a limit. These are all speculations of course. The only thing for certian that we know that's been confirmed by Dan is that the amount you get is based off of rank, which your numbers did prove correct. You did get more research from him than from another target your rank. Your assumption is that it should be twice as much research, which isn't neccissarily accurate.

amount gained = target's current RP / X Where X is the ratio that Dan chose to program. The more they have stored up, the more RP you can steal per hack. As higher level players are more likely to have more at any given time, hacks are more likely to get more RP from them. However, a lower level player that has a lot of RP stored up will yield more rewards than a higher level who logs in more often.
