forking from the ship strength topic in case anyone prefers to keep using the original formulas in that topic.

to allow comparisons by rank, those with similar ranks have the same type of symbol.

from this data, it looks like values over 40 would constitute 'powerful' or 'tough'. this obviously gets easier at higher ranks, but Golgotha is the only pilot on the chart who would be considered both tough AND powerful under those criteria.

if anyone's data was excluded, it was due to the fact that they made finding their current rank too much of a challenge.

EDIT: i have also completed my SSB strategy guide, but it is hosted on an alternate forum (the one with the arcade where i have OVER HALF of the 410 available high scores).

Just a thought here: If we truly want to compare a ships toughness/power, rank is technically not REALLY a factor in the equation. Shouldn't the denominator simply be the damage cap for toughness? And how about just attack = power?

I enjoy the value of factoring in rank as well(It allows for fun comparison against people far away in rank), but it would be cool to see cut and dry rankings. After all, that's all that really matters in practice when going head to head right?

This is going to be phrased really badly, but I'll attempt an explanation xD

Remember that this is a comparison of ship power per rank and ship toughness per rank.

If rank is excluded from calculations, then it'd be impossible to compare power and toughness between ships of different ranks... for example, with regard to toughness, an active rank 2k will always be stronger than an active rank 200, so using damage cap alone for the rank 2k is irrelevant (the rank 200 will never hit cap unless there's a huge amount of arti spammage). Basically, for comparison purposes, the raw numbers mean very little besides showing the obvious - a ship with high attack and high defense is probably going to pummel a ship with low attack and low defense.

Or something like that. I forgot what I was trying to say halfway through the explanation lol

I completely understand all of that. I really do. As I said, I see the value/fun in adjusting on a per rank basis.

Now, on the flip side...

As you get higher and higher in rank, rank itself becomes more and more meaningless. When comparing a rank 1500 with a rank 2000, the rank difference no longer makes any real difference anymore. This is where simply having a raw toughness/power rating becomes more interesting and useful. If i'm looking at my BT for example, I don't care if the rank 1000 has a higher rank adjusted toughness than the rank 1200...I only care about the overall toughness. You know?

Once again, I'm not saying rank adjusted is useless(it's great), I'm saying non-rank adjusted would be useful too.

For example, I could care less about any of the non adjusted scores for the lower rank guys....but I'm definitely interested to see how Golga would compare to say Wolfy or Cendant in raw toughness/power.

the people that are on it posted their rank, strength, and toughness in the ship strength topic ... or have their own ship logs which they keep updated .. or is the person who created the chart using all that publicly available info (on this and other fora) plus his own excel spreadsheet of progress back to rank 70.

the better question would be why would you WANT to appear on it ? it is not like you will suddenly become more attractive to members of the opposite sex for appearing on it.

i added 9 pilots between the first release with 25 pilots ... and honestly, the comparable information did not change a great deal. there are a few more pilots to compare progress against in specific rank brackets, but the general outline of the galaxy was pretty well defined in the first go-round, with Golgotha taking names. so, other than the shy speed.ranking glass cannon candidate, i am not sure what else would be useful on this chart.

Wooohooo! I'm on the list. Working a new job now so probably won't autorank much if at all for a long time... which should help my ship out a bit on a strength to rank ratio. Looking forward to seeing myself move towards the upper right of the graph in the future.

i am wondering how is it possible for you to have Player Kills: 2749 but Successful Raids: 14530
