We all see Legion Empires like Imminent or Stormkyn Alliance and you see them dot all over the leader boards and then you have your Perennial Powerhouses like the Pre-Boom! Dysonians, and EOTS.

Whats better to have? A legion that remains number one for years? or a main legion that is generally in the top 15 with several sub-legions.

is it better to have a line of people at the door of experianced wanderers wanting to get in, or home grown players that you can pick and choose whenever you please to move up and fill a spot in either your main legion or another sublegion?

what are the draw backs?

just some questions for Leader board empires and powerhouse legions

The draw backs of a multi-allied main legion with sub legion would be a possible soft-nap if not a hard nap placed between the legions, IMO not really fun if you PvP 80% of the time, constantly trying not to do anything that can potentially break the alliance, especially when you have 'tunnel vision' when PvPing  . Having an Empire of your own can be nice but it may "limit" your BT targets and/or your planet invasions (especially when you scan something worthwhile but own by an allied legion, can be heart breaking). Personally (just because of my play style) I would prefer having 2-3 BP allies over several sub legions with BP allies. But that's just me.

In my opinion you are better off to have 1 very active legion then multiple sub-legions and only play with them just for basing..The reason im saying this cause lets say u put all the active guys there from the sub-legions in one legion= they will grow very strong in short period of time.. via npcing, planet shares and so on..also other active members from other legions might want to join u for the long run ;)

Gonna steal a line from game of thrones since it sums up my opinion.

Robert Baratheon: Which is the bigger number, five or one?
Cersei Lannister: Five.
Robert Baratheon: [holds up his left fingers] Five...
Robert Baratheon: [clutches his right fist] ... one. One army, a real army, united behind one leader with one purpose.

Personally I prefer over achieving academy's Full of well knowledge players of most ranks all working together , learning and have fun.

Issues with empires is it makes the PVP during war time SWEET!. Also I have seen that they tend to always ride the coat tials of the big BRO legion pushing others aroound picking fights than in time give the bigger one the finger and act like they done nothing for them. Witch is why im against them.

Our top team is exactly that, super active players who are all experienced at the game.

The next tier down are good guys, but not as experienced or active as IC, as you could imagine because of that they also have a lower SS.

It keeps going down the chain in this fashion, each one of our legions has a specific goal/task. Our IA team is mostly focussed on PVP.

I like the idea of an empire, but it needs to be managed correctly, its not about a power trip, or having the most people, its just a group of friends, i know bunchloads of our people in all of our subs, and we all help each other out across the legions.

We are still pushing the top team to be better though, we wont stop and rest on our laurels simply because we have a big team, we wont stop trying until the game gets cancelled!

As for the pvp/planets issue, we have 3 subs, and 2 bp ally's, it can be annoying, but its a lot better than what i had at my previous team, where we had bp allies, long term soft naps and sister legions. As long as we see "imminent" or one of our bp ally's names we dont hit it.

As for that question, you need your best people in the top team, whether that makes them 15th, or 5th, you need the best of the best that your legion group has in the top team, my thoughts on it anyway.

My question may have no been obvious, its not I who is deciding whether to have a Empire or a Super legion. Id like the Various leaderboard legions who are one or the other talked about the strategic advantages and disadvantages just for the purpose of discussion not advice. But i appriciate it none the less

Personally .. hate sub/sister/training legions.. you end up sending some of your active big guys to these other random legions to be leaders and you end up with 5 legions with 7-10 active players instead of 1 legion with 40-50 active players. Having active players with your online whenever you're online is huge in this game.. Sister legions don't help with npcing .. you have 10-15 people online at any hour of the day and clusters go down in 8 minutes.. you're in a sister legion that same cluster probably expires... when you do decide to do that pointless task of pvping and war time.. sister legions don't share alerts so pfft.. stupid... bases .. not having to worry about all your sister legions being online to coordinate big bases .. speaks for itself.. and then the politics.. one legion one set of rules.. One legion with uber active member base is 100% the way to go. You really just don't know what you are missing by not being in a legion where 50 of your legion mates are in the same level range and all quite active.. it makes the game more enjoyable and the social aspect of the game is more immersive when there are more people online at all times.

hands down one legion..

One legion. Okay, have friends, allies, coalitions for different purposes, sure, but in the end, 1 legion.
