 PvP issue: attack vs def vs ship size

Hi, so I built into a small ship build and have been gratuitously adding to my Tactical Officers. During combat, I have noticed my attack doesn't seem to be hitting quite as hard as I would think it should. I have taken a cross-section of hits versus other players as examples and evidence. I just want some feedback on this. I looked at the formulas for combat in the wiki and they seemed pretty wonky. Here are the pics of the fights I used as a reference point.Image Image My current deck isze is 342, making my maximum non-crit damage roughly 170. I want to know why people with fractions of my attack and similar defense are hitting my damage cap or close to it and I can't scratch them, when they are way larger than I am in size and they still have minimal defense. Phoenix12 was also about 100 decks larger than I am.

The numbers at the top don't include crew. Use a Spy Probe - Weapons, and a Spy Probe - Defence, to see their true values.

The indicators of attack/defense are not dead on. Infact, they are really badly off. Use Spy probes to get the right level of their ship because sometime they will have a lot more defense than it says.

Check their total decks, divide it by 2 and that'll be the max you'll be able to hit them.

okay thanks Dexter and Pegasisiter, that does clarify. I guess the % bonuses from modules and other stats aren't incorporated into the calculations in the battle menu.

I feel scan plays a good part if huge dmg trigger your excitement. AT my rank, I often see over 2k damages against ships in my BT :mrgreen:
