My initial thoughts are path #1 is the more economical choice, but would like to hear the opinions of the galaxy

I would personally wait unless the medal points are urgent. do a scan run but don't change races for n extra 20-30 planets, it'll come with time

Urgency is sort of relative. I'm frozen until I get that medal. So the sooner I get it, will be able to go back to basing, npcing, missions, etc

I don't think the credit portion will be a problem (won't really know until I have the mods researched) but thanks for the offer. I'll keep that in mind once I have decided which path to take and am ready for the installation.
