 Tactical officer advice.

Just looking for a bit of advice as to how I should distribute my rank points.

So far I have been running a SSB and put all my rank points into Tactical officers, Rescued prisoners into Engineers and Ship bots for decks.

This has given me ship stats of:
Rank-67
Decks-86
Engineers-220
Tactical Officers- 490 (attack 912, but have all my Dom mk3s ready for rank 100)
Helmsmen 173

Basically I was wondering when should I shift away from Tactical Officers and put more into Engineers?

For anyone wondering/wants to see other stats:
Kills-829
Deaths-18 (but only one was by someone my rank range)
Hacks-355 (gave up after I got Decryps)
Raids-264 (gave up after Proteans)

Anything other advice would be gladly received, and I will happily answer any other questions.

If you don't mind slow ranking then never! Otherwise I would suggest maybe 3 tac officers and 2 engis from rank points.

I am a big time pvp ship. It is what drew me to the game and what keeps me interested. Still, I will tell you, I wish I had gotten into position to auto rank sooner. As much as I like my guns, as much as I like my tact officers, if I had it to do over again, I would suck it up and add engineers quicker. Now keep in mind, your ship doesn't become instantly strong because you are a higher rank. You can add tons of ranks and end up with a bunch of empty planet slots. My APR right now is higher than many ships 300 ranks ahead of me. So my suggestion about adding engineers so that you can auto rank also comes with this precaution, only rank up enough so that you have maybe 2 or 3 planet slots open at the most. If you can't take advantage of being the higher rank, then you might as well put the points in to TO's.

+1 Well said! and i m so glad i had listened to few of my good friends and added massive energies into my ship. After 2 years of playing GL, its really true not to lack too far in any area or modules when building your ship

Basically engineers if u want to auto-rank or just have lots of energy, but add tacticals if u want to be a slow to mid ranker and want lots of attack (it's up to u basically), i have 4.2k energy with relays on, and i have 18.7k attack unbuffed, i save tons of energy due to the high amount of attack i have.

More engineers.

With 220 energy, there is simply nothing much you can get done in a days work. Even if you take most ships out in 5 hits with no raids, hacks or comm messages, that's only around 8 kills a day plus 5 kills per four more hours you spend playing. As a rough goal, I suggest you get your engineers up to 500 by rank 100.

I'm in the same boat as you, rank 62, loosely ssb with almost 600 TOs and 230 engineers, and I absolutely hate my lack of energy.

SSB ship, especially sub-100 rank, pvp oriented, daily rank pts and level up rank pts would go to TOs exclusively. Rescued prisoners, use them subjectively - if you need more energy now, increase engineers, etc. Freeze/slow rank at times. Be in a level 6 or + primarily or exclusively arti base. Get your arti production up. That simple.
