OK, I wasn't sure if this should be Beginner's Hub or here, and I did search for a while but got no definitive answers.

I've just unlocked Genetarr, and am going to swap over as I do a lot of NPC hunting. Now, before anyone says it I know that Drannik is better, but I'm not there yet, so want to spend some time being a purple psychic. Trouble is, I'm not sure what the best profession is for NPCing. Do I go with Fixer for the extra hull, Explorer for the extra scan (better bosses) or physicist for the extra shields (I know at lower levels hull is better than shield, but shield recharges!).

Please let me know your opinions on things!

fixer. shield probably doesn't recharge fast enough unless your shield recharge is 150k per hour(even then people use nanos and shield restorers). a bit of shield won't make much of a difference. people tend to use drannik fixer or lazuli fixer when npc'ing ot anything else once they can do that. my point is fixer saves repairs.

Deffo fixer, the scan bonus is not worth it for MOVing, just for scanning planets and only of you have like 15k+, the rest were explain by stuffy for why not too chose them.

I'm with Crow's implied response. Don't even bother switching to Genetaar. Dropping the attack on an NPC is meaningless because you can just repair. The improved Influence isn't bad on Sha'din and DSG bosses, but overall you're going to have more success with NPCs as a Konqul or Drannik (once you unlock it). Heck, if you're that worried about NPC attack, be an Aerlen Fixer. You get the nice defense and hull bonuses plus you help your legion base.

ive been genetarr for a while, and to be honest its really not that great. The improved influence thing is nice, but its more or less circumstantial, I mainly did it for the medals. I'm a explorer myself, the extra hull would be nice but if you are more interested in finding planets / NPC boss rares then explorer could save you a bit on ship space. Personally I would determine what your hull would be at as a fixer vs. how much space you'd save as an explorer ( assuming space matters to you ) before making the switch.

I've been a Genetarr for most of my GL career since I unlocked it and I find the Improved Mind Influence very helpful against debuffing bosses. The Hypergrids, Nexuses and Warp Stations are the worst for spamming their debuffs and I've saved a ton of cages on them. Though it does have it's limits as it's mainly a support role only and not good when there are a ton of npcs alerted. I'd only recommend it for players whose legions don't alert much npcs or who are gunning purely for the medal, but that's about it. Once you have the medal or the ability becomes ineffective against an ensemble of npc alerts, switch to something else.

Thanks for people's opinions. As (I think) I said, Genetarr is a distraction until I unlock Drannik. I'm only going to stick with purple people until I unlock the Genetarr medals!

On a side note, Nephthys looks cool. It's a rare sight to see in GL. That's why I have it. :P
