If you can get technology that's good enough, literally the biggest thing that will be holding you back are the lack of decks to install the tech.

Right now the most effective way for you to slow rank, is to not.
To be of any effect slow ranking requires good arti. By good arti I mean you should have at least 5k an hour, probably actually more like 8; minimum, plus being in an arti base.
To do this either you need to rank up and take more good arti planets, or I need to buy some amazing ones.
Imo long run for most effective slow ranking you should be talth, or at least One of the other improvement races.

I got about 2300 hacks before rank 35, and I regret slow ranking when I was such a low rank. At the absolute least, you want to have high enough AP/h to get a significant amount of purgers so that you can do a scan run at least every month or two, and then you will want to rank in order to take those planets. The sole time I can see slow ranking being a good strategy now is when you have one planet slot open and no planets to take (one slot due to unforeseen circumstances such as a legionmate failing an invade, letting you take a chance). I recommend that because it's not easy to raise AP/h without the planets to be able to take to do so. By the time you're ready to do a scan run you should optimally have 5+ slots open, so you're ready to take anything good you might scan.

They should bow any one near them I'm rank clear out of the water, but if you are comparing instead to someone who stated at the same time and ranks normally then yes I'd agree. Thing is though slow taking isn't about being the best in the galaxy. Its about being the best in your rank bracket.

Step 1 : uninstal energy cores, energy = stuff to do, so unless you live on GL, energy is bad for slow rankers. Step 2 : uninstal relays, slower turnover = less xp gained.
Artis are important yes, however unless your bob, chances of getting 5k/hr out of the gate are between slim and..... well it aint gonna happen. Focus on rp hardcore early on, as you rank slowly if you have good rp/hr (1k+ at rank 20-25ish) youll quickly see your research fast exceed anyone else in your rank. Now depending on how slow you are going would depend on whether i would suggest an RP or AP base. If your going hyper slow id say go RP base and switch off when you feel you no longer need it. *hyper slow = ranking maybe 1 time a week*
