Recently, I have noticed a lot of people do damage to elites or bosses. They are the last people to get their names on, and they do more damage than what is available after they hit it. For example, X and Y both locked on an elite. However, Z did not. Z did 1500 damage, but there is only 1100 hull left on the elite after Z attacks it. No one touches the elite, because they are all offline and/or out of energy. Therefore, they are forcing someone to waste their energy on an elite, and only getting minimal amounts of experience.

Just a reply to all the ****bags that do this.

General etiquette is to lock the elite/boss to complete your share.
There are exceptions. A high ranked player may do most of the damage to make it easier for the others to get on.
Also, someone might tank it once all the slots are filled.

Everyone overestimates the amount of damage they'll be able to do to an elite/boss from time to time. Or they'll forget they are low on energy. Usually one (or more) of the people that ARE locked will pick up the remaining damage and kill the thing. However, if you find your legion has someone who habitually "soft-locks" on elite/boss NPCs and then stops, you should discuss it with them. That habit can lead to bad blood and animosity within the legion.

On occasions I end up soft-locking on elites because of lack of energy/logging off during an elite for important reasons.
But if I got the green light to do so I would wreck an elite when I have extra energy (unless I'm the one who shared it in which I'd deal extra damage to it)
