Hey, can anyone tell me how long it would take to make an extra 2k mining off of 15x Mega VM mining planets, starting from VM gases? I have (rather, will have) +12 buildings. Assume 40 production points.

Why not start with VM metallics which, while rarer, generally have a higher starting mineral abundance?

Because I only have one scanned, which is already 1x Mega and I will be maxing before I move on to the gases.

Oh, and before someone tells me to NPC and bump up toxics. I intend to do this, from start to finish, whilst frozen. That means no XP gain, and thusly, no NPCing.

40 raw production points with 575% resource bonus and 100% development bonus gives 540 total resource points. So to get 2k (2160), you would have to uplift 4 planets to 15x. To use VM Gas planets, each one would take 27 mylarais to reach 15x. At 40 hour intervals, that would be 1080 hr (45 days) EACH. So going that route, it would take you 180 days to generate ~2000mph from VM gas planets with 40 raw points. Plus 21,600 energy.

Probably not the most efficient way of increasing your mineral production....

Well. Personally, meanas I'm going to fall off of the killsboard, I'm going to aim for the hacks board. I'm going to spend 6 months almost purely hacking. I used to do it with PvP. Why not hack, eh?

EDIT: Actually, it'll be more like 54 days each. I'll only be able to do it every 48 hours as opposed to 40 hours.

If you're looking to use your Mylarai ability to increase your mph AND freeze rank, I would start with Very Large Volcanics. They are nearly as common as VM Gas planets, plus already come with significantly better mineral production. Rich to Extremely Rich Volcanics are generally easy to come by, and would take about 2/3's the time to uplift to 15x. Dump a Thermionic Intensifier on one, and viola! Massive 16x Demon that you can easily get 40 raw points from. 560 total production points for a lot less energy. That would let you make 5-6 in the same amount of time, increasing your mph even more than the VM Gas strategy.

Not a bad idea... except, I like the idea of mining gases. And I don't have the AP/hour to mass produce Thermionic Intensifiers. Only enough to produce about 2 atm.

Still. I'll have plenty of time to get artifacts in the time that that takes. Thanks for the advice. 4-5 months frozen sounds better than 6-7.

I want to point out that the only free and infinitely repeatable colossal in the game is a VM Gas -> Plasma. Metallics (top out at VM naturally) and Volcanics (top out at M with a Thermionic) are good if you care about starting richness, but if you want maximum size, Plasmas are the only game around. The 16x achievable with a Demon planet that is only Massive seems outweighed by the additional 12 spaces on a Colossal Plasma 15x.

Or...you can simply trade.

Go kronyn make a couple of 17x plasmas and and sell them for ctp or 2 16x vl toxics. If you start from VM R it takes about 5 weeks each that's about 3 months. tap a few level 5 bases and try for a raid get a few triphasers and you can easily get 33 on each planet, for 462 mining each. If you auction the planet, might even be able to get a 5th with the right buyers and hit the 2k mark. Just another option you might want to consider.

No. That is partially why I need Mylarai in the first place. I don't make all that much money at a lowly rank 160+

Yes but you have artifacts and can easily sell them much faster than you get ku for trades.
