Just wanna know if I am doing okay for my rank

Edited, I am also in a legion with a level 7 base producing artifact, my research caps out every 6 hours and I am max on planets 5/5 with one being my future mission dyson

You need to start getting your arti and mining production up a LOT. And you should also join a research based legion to start off with. It'll give you a huge advantage over most people your rank. Hacking is easy always, so stop doing that and start killing people and raiding them, from these red and yellow badges, buy Protean Armories and Dominion Cannons, nothing else.

Get your artifact up, kill ppl for the Dominion Cannons, and get more attack and hull: you can't have too much of them

I want to get the 3 velox thrusters and aegis capacitors as soon as possible hence why I am in the legion I am now then I plan on getting my hull to over 5,000 without installing any modules. I know this will not be an easy task but I have the patience to do.

Not an easy task = this will take a well over a year even with amazing arti production, and with 24 arti an hour, never going to happen, you have to increase it, to have any chance of fullfilling your goals, and at low rank velox thrusters and aegis capacitators and worth the xcharge cells and android helmsmen.

I think Aegis Capacitors become more cost-effective at around 3k shields. I have 4k hull before any modules, and that's taken a year to do. As is, focus on getting stronger in all areas of combat, not specifically one. Defense can be useful, but hull takes precedence over it at lower levels.

It's alot more fun WITH hull modules. Trust me. My passive hull would get me no-where, but with all my hull modules, which I am soon to upgrade to the pnultimate tier, I have some pretty thick hull.

Dont go to a research legion please..
From what I see you are slow ranking hard, which will make your ship ultra strong with that arti base. Just take a long term loan from some1 to maintain upkeep/or just sell arties an dont get even one mining planet till rank 100 and you are all set.

I have 1.1B credits so no I wont be needing mining planets or a loan anytime soon

I was at rank 150 before I had abillion in the bank. But then again, I didn't really had a highranked player backing me up, or any trading experience lol
