I know when I first started the game I screwed up by putting Rank Points into Engineers & Scientists. I think around Rank 18 I figured out it was a mistake and then from there on out I've been going pretty much 4 RPs into Decks, 1 RP into Cargo most of the time upon Ranking up. I've mostly been using Energy on missions. Specifically on missions to get useful planet Artifacts to help increase production.

My Research points have mainly gone to the Energy(Dark Energy Induction 1/4), Scanning(Sub-Dimensional Sensors 1/3), & Planetary Construction(Astro Binding 0/1) Trees. The Advanced Weapon Tree is only up to Gravitation Shearing 0/3, Shield Tree is at Phase Fields 0/3), Stealth Systems is at EM Adaptive Materials 0/3. All other Research Trees are up to the 3rd part of the tree. I'm in a legion and get a hefty amount of Research points from the legion every day which really helps me work through these high level research trees. My main issue is not having enough Decks to handle all the modules I can add to my ship.

As for planets I think I scanned to much early on and now seem to have trouble finding good planets that are at least Large and Rich. Even if I use Artifacts to get my Scanning to 900+ I don't seem to find any decent planets. What do I need to do in order to find better planets? Should I only be keeping Large Planets and bigger? Should I start abandoning planets I colonized that are smaller then Large planets? I have GPs and could abandon planets if I should, but will that help if I don't have any decent planets to replace them with? I also have 2 Star Chart Purgers Artifacts I can use if that helps. Should I use them and if so what type planets should I use them on? Also I have 2 Sub Dimensional Sensors that take up 120 total Decks. Should I sell those off to better utilize those 120 Decks? I can then just buy Sensors when I'm going to scan for planets. It seems like they take up a lot of decks when you don't use them that often and they take up too much Cargo space to just uninstall and hold until I need them.

Lastly the one area I haven't delved into yet has been battle. I haven't even had an attack module on my ship until recently and then when I tried attacking a Hired Convoy I was taking big damage and hardly doing any damage. I even had 5 Heavy Phase Cannons with a 385 Attack and did nothing. Any advice on attacking other ships? At my level how how should my attack be? It just seems very hard to have 8 Attack modules when it would take 184 Decks of space.

Anyway how am I doing? What can I do better? What am I doing right? Wrong? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

1)Rank points in engineers is NOT a wast , at higher ranks they are needed if you want to rank up more then 1 time every 4 days.
2)Stop putting rank points in cargo that's a wast.
3)You need more of all production , but artifact is really low.
4)Drop Refraction Panels , Heavy Force Shield , and Sub-Dimensional Sensor x2 for some hull , defense , and guns.
5)For planet scanning first purge any bad planets , then put on all 5 of the max level scanners you have researched and any others that give scan , then base stat buffs , then % buffs. After that it's the luck of the draw.
6)As for abandoning planets , if you don't have anything better then keep what you have till you can find better and don't take any more smalls.

Research guns and Hull. Your energy is fine for now. Get your production up. You really should have 5 hull modules on. Try get atleast 4 guns on

Why are Hull Modules so important over say Shields or Defense? or just in general?

Because Hull has a better deck:hull ratio than shields have a deck:shield ratio, and defense won't do anything if you don't have the hull to make the defense matter.

Love hearing people gloat about being better at a game. If something like that defines your life then feel free to be happy about it. Personally I can care less if you believe you are better. It's not like I'm trying to be the greatest Galaxy Legion player. Even if I wanted to I couldn't because I can't be online 24/7 playing games and that's what it takes. Maybe you can do that and maybe you're one that is willing to buy Galaxy points to help yourself improve. I can't do those things as I have a family and only get online once or at most twice a day for a few minutes to check in on this game. So if your better your better. To be honest I really don't care either way.

Are you kidding?? These types of threads are made so that people can get advice on how to improve their ships, not so that others can show off their ships. It's pathetic that you need to say that you're better than someone else, when they're simply trying to get advice to improve themselves. If you're so desperate for attention, make your own thread and you'll get all the attention you apparently need so much.

Onto the real topic...

Adding some more decks wouldn't hurt you. If you're doing missions mostly, put on some hull and defense so you aren't an easy kill.

To find good planets, it's really only being lucky or unlucky. It's not a matter of GL disliking you, despite it seeming that way.

As for adding attack, research better attack mods and get more decks. Phase cannons won't cut it at your rank. You could probably be up to Quantum Devastators. Also, if you're trying to pvp or npc, having hull as well as attack is important.

Try to increase your productions, especially research and artifact. More artifacts will help you grow your ship(ie Ship bots, prisoners etc).

Like iDaze said, if you're just trying to do missions in peace, get up to say 750-1,000 hull and then use Calming Amps and Halcyon traps. Until you get into a huge number of decks, that would help keep you from being disabled.

OK Guys thanks for the advice. I made a few changes based on the advice given. I got rid of some modules and bought new modules to increase my Hull to 985 and Attack to 310. Obviously Attack is a work in progress, but 985 in Hull hopefully helps. Also made some changes to a few planets including colonizing a new Large Planet with Very Abundant Artifact. Research is now at 1010/hr, Mining is at 590/hr & Artifacts is up to 421/hr. I'll keep working to improve Artifacts. I didn't realize they were that important until someone reminded me about the Shipbots, Prisoner, Etc. Artifacts. So thanks again for the help. I'm sure this won't be the last time I ask for help. For now I'm going back to doing missions and building up my ship until I finally am strong enough to attack other ships and take planets.

A nice rule of thumb is to take planets that are Large or greater in Size, and Rich or greater in resources (with some exceptions in the case of Very Massive, Extremely Abundants, or Small XMega Riches and such). Unfortunately this does mean either buying planets or researching scanners (which begin to get expensive) and doing scan runs, in addition to needing purgers.

So what should I be looking planet wise? For example Put the following 4 Planets in order of best to colonize.

Large Desert - Research Extremely Abundant

Massive Gas - Research Rich

Very Massive Gas - Research Average

Very Large Gas - Research Abundant

Also when I use a Star Chart Purger Artifact on a planet does it matter what size planet I purge? Meaning if I purge a Very Massive planet does it give me a better chance of next time to get another Massive planet or doesn't it matter and I'm better off just purging a very tiny planet?

It's best to purge anything you have no intent on colonizing; scanning is random, so purging a very massive won't open the doors for another very massive.

In order of those four you listed:

Massive Gas - Research Rich

Large Desert - Research Extremely Abundant (only if desperate)

Don't colonize the other two, unless you're planning on becoming Kronyn, in which case the very massive would be good.
