Recently, I've been hearing a lot of people say their scan blitzes are yielding little to no results. Can anyone confirm or deny this? |

it 's because at higher ranks "good" planets become better and better, where a lower rank might consider a large very rich planet good, a higher rank won't look twice at it, so they like less planets to begin with, but even with the pickiest of people a 6-700 planet scan run will yield 5-10 "good" planets |

Thanks Spartan, yeah I kinda figured the bigger players would look at their results with a harder eye. I'd like to get some feedback from those of you that do scan blitzes from time to time, or regularly. In your opinion, is it worth it to sink the time and energy into getting those last few boosts to scanning power, or do your blitz results tell you that it just isn't worth the effort? |

To be honest, why even ask, will you stop colonizing planets? Or are you telling me there are other options besides scanning? Sure you can get shares but really that's not exactly what I'd call a good source of planets... |

you'll always want more planets. and where else are you gonna get good ones? |

Some changed made to the scanning (undocumented) makes you fail scanning planets alot more. Just failing, not the message that the planet had too much cloak, but just failing. At rank 763 i got 179 planets and can have another 12, and previous mentioned, ive become very picky about planets i take.. 2x mega rich is nearly bottom of what i would consider to take. |

Depends on how much planets you are getting thru scan blitz I usually trim my planets down to 350 before scanning for another 350-400 more planets. I might get 0-5 good planets I'm willing to spend 9bil on unoccupied and 18bil to invade. I did 3 scan blitz in a month thru the star chart missions. I traded for 750k of EM and probably got maybe 10ish planets I wanted to take. The rest I've been doing daily alerts for free planets to my legion. |

Sure you can get shares but really that's not exactly what I'd call a good source of planets... In a word: prioritization. As you may or may not be aware, there are many high level missions that require a serious investment in energy. One of these happens to yield a +12% boost in scanning power. Is it currently worth it is what I would like to know. Revis wrote: you'll always want more planets. and where else are you gonna get good ones? Well, my other option is planet sales. I can buy toxics and gas giants for super low prices and build them up quickly if I have the npc hunting skills, which I do, leaving artifact words as the only base left to be covered, which I could address by investing massive energy into the Taltherian chain and race changing. I guess it comes down to which option I think I'll enjoy more. Scan blitzing seems like a build-up-your-scan-then-blow-your-load kind of thing with a slight chance of natural dyson, whereas planet buying/building is the slow and steady way.. thanks for the input guys. |

with the way most people scan-blitz i don't think they're worth it if you are not purging a bad planet immediately upon finding one, you are wasting scans and energy per good planet found making an immediate decision will maximize your chances of getting good planet!! |

The only problem with that is you run the risk of running out of scan boost if you stop to purge the junk in the middle of scanning. If you have a bunch of scan artifacts that could easily be viable, though. |

I think the point of doing this is so you don't NEED the scan boosters until you're almost done and have purged a hundred planets or two |

Why hold back purgers until after you start scanning? That's even more wasteful. |

Even if you stopped in the middle of your scanning to nuke some, would it really take you an hour to complete the scanning? |

If i did this i woudn´t need any artifact boost to max scan chance eventually stoping when i had more 20/30 good planets to conquer/colonize. Little problem is i can´t get hundreads of purgers but to those who purge 300-400 before scanning and make 2 or 3 scans in a month makes more sense to stock like 1000 purges, clean all garbage and scan, purge, scan purge, keep, scan, purge, etc. |

just takes a few extra clicks to purge, and keep your chance of finding another planet high... and heck, go ahead and keep using the artifacts to boost scan... keep your scan in the good range instead of letting it drop to fair or even down to the bottom end of very poor... |

I've only gone on 2 scan blitzes so far and I havn't found anything more worthwhile than terra's |

there haven't been new planets added for a while, and i wouldn't doubt that many of the good planets have already been colonized and sufficient cloak been put on them... this would be the only reason you are unable to find good planets with poor scan.... people keep what they want and throw the rest back (purge the bad ones from their database) take a closer look at the planets you've scanned that enemies already have occupied... you'll find them much better than the unoccupied ones, generally speaking... as your scan goes up, you'll be able to push past the cloak people have put on their better worlds, but for unoccupied worlds, scan level doesn't affect your results... there's just so few unoccupied good worlds left that it'll take many many planets to roll a good one |

Do scan and cloak work against each other equally? For example, do I need 1000 scan to have a chance to scan a planet with 1000 cloak? |

Yes, although if there is any cloak you have a chance of failing. |

If I was a new player I would take 20 of the planets I scanned yesterday. But the sad thing about it is that at this rank and advancement. 98% of the planets I found are a bunch of rejects being average or less or just not that rich enough. Sad part is I found an exotic only very small and very abundant in size. Sometimes its better to just buy a planet that other players have scanned. |
