heard a lil thing about applying ALL rank points to energy and at some point (this is what interest me, amount?) you can pretty much climb ranks as long as you wanna sit there clicking missions.
who has done it?

I've heard that a few people have do this, however I don't believe you can climb ranks doing missions, i've always thought that they auto-ranked NPC'ing, as it tends to have a much greater ratio than missions.

who has done it? well a lot of people(like FerrusManus, and hopefully me soon) have enough energy to auto-level by fighting NPCs, see if you have 10 times as much energy as your rank, and can get an ex:energy ratio of 4:1, you can level up solely from the energy you get from leveling up

I don't remember the thread but I think with no RSL you need around 25 rank points per rank put into engineers to rank from the high return missions alone. Doable but not easy since energy modules also factor into it until you run out of those where prisoners might keep up. The higher xp/energy ratio of NPC farming lowers the limit to something much more attainable for the majority of people.
I seem to remember the math was 14 rank points for NPC with RSL.

You can't get 16k npc attack by investing all your rank points into energy though. You max out somewhere between 6 and 9k npc attack i think without tac officers.
When combining tac officers and engineers the correct formula to auto level off npcs depends significantly on the common npcs that are allowed to spawn on your battle tab. There are rank ranges that can easily get 5 or 6x energy to exp return and ranges that are lucky to get 2.5x (such as right after rank 350 usually).
Also, at my 13k attack and over 10 times my rank in energy I still can't auto level off npcs without an RSL. Testing with drannick sabs suggests that an extra 500 points in engineers would get me there faster than 500 more points in tac officers. Though the damage cap goes up faster than health on matched npcs so your xp return gets better the higher your rank if you keep up with the cap.

You used to be able to do it with Stellar Cartography and experience buffs, but the experience return was lowered so that you can't now.

Yeah, Auto Rankers were using RSL and Stellar mission. that's why RSL is so rare now and 25exp reduction was made on Stellar mission.

If anything you could limit the number a ranks a ship can gain in a day. It's as close as it gets to keeping things in check and being fair about it towards new(er) people. To 10, 5, n, pick a number.

yea but the thing is ..... #1 you'll have to play for a long time before you can auto-rank ... and when yyou do start climbin your way up... eventually it'll take more and more and then you start spending more time waiting for energy.... right?
