when has a level 8 base caused less repairs than a level 5? 30k attack for a level 5 and level 8's would have at least 100k+ attack with buffs. A level 8 would never hae the same stats as a level 5

The max defense on a level 5 base is 50,881, that is the same max defense that would be on a lvl 8 base, before any buffs.

The max attack on a lvl 5 base is 42050, that is the same max attack that would be on a lvl 8 base, before any buffs.

Both can be buffed up depending on loyal aerlen members, and loyal members respectively, neither of which are co-dependant on the level of your base. So yes a lvl 8 base can have the same stats as a lvl 5 base, the only area where a lvl 5 base would fall short would be on shields.

If a level 5 base and a level 8 base were both locked with the same exact stats and a timer was used to see which went down faster without any defense from the opposing legion, the level 8 would go down alot faster than the 5, including the additional shields, due to the much higher dmg cap

Probably should looked up on wiki and they would have the same stats except they would fall short by about 220k shields and 2% every 2 minutes I think would make it rather tough to break through the shields. A level 8 would still take much longer due to shield recharge and not sure how much % difference it is hitting a level 8 with the same stats. maybe about double the damage. another points would be level 8's take time to build and would have much more exo-clamps than a level 5. that would probably be a bit more than an extra 6 hull and 6 shield modules. roughly 350k shields and and extra 200k hull. you forgot to take than into consideration since there will never be a level 8 that has the same stats a level 5. Level 8's will be much better prepared all around before even counting the buffs.

Yeah you'll have to stop to repair occasionally, but your gonna be able to do a much bigger chunk, much faster, making it much harder than it already is to defend your base. Similarly with NPC's it doesn't have to even be a warp station but chances are you'll do a much more significant chunk of it than you would do usually, depending when it popped up.

If and when you have multiple legions hitting a base, it'll go down pretty fast regardless. For example, the Dysonian base attack group usually kills any base, even level 6's and 7's in less than 5 minutes. Many times in less than 1 minute. So any active defense would be impossible regardless of auto-clicker or not. Likewise, even weaker legions can all band up and take down other level 2, 3, 4, and 5 bases pretty quickly when they're on the ball.

Only real way to have an effective "active" base defense is to max out all the base modules and constantly have base buffs up at all times, or do like the Dysonians and have 15+ people drop GP's at a whim and change to Aerlon Fixers or whatever for max hull / shield buffs.

You do realize that when your legions base was built, it was built right up to level 7 which would place it on par, in terms of stats to that of a newly built lvl 5 base, albeit with the extra shield modules installed, because Namalak built it to lvl 7 within like 12 hours.

So whilst maybe not true of the only lvl 8 base in the game, there is very much a truth that your lvl 7 base could be placed on par with a well built lvl 5 that was built at the exact same time.

Now thats not to say that Imperium as of right now isn't a beast to take down, but I wonder if given the chance, what a basing group would choose to go after, a "new" full build lvl 5 or a "new" full build lvl 7 with a higher dmg cap, assuming that all buffs would be the same.

I would assume the level 7 and now it has improved a lot. we were disabled on the first day I think, with a double kill shot. The level 7 may be an easier target if it were a large legion but probably wouldn't happen. shield recharge would be an issue and 30 extra points per day would be 5 emg. repairs IoN has 32 fixers which is about a full repair. so an extra 5 repairs at 360k hull would give you 1.8m more damage before even counting the buffs that would make you to do about 5.76m damage to the base to get the disable. first day and no loyalty bonus a level 5 would win and may not be taken down since it wouldn't have made as much noise as a level 7. The level 7 on the first day was an easier target with no bonuses. My point is a level 5 would win for the first week and after the level 7 would be tougher to take down.

If I recall correctly it was the 3rd or 4th day when we scanned it. Pretty sure we mentioned the attack in Nam's original Legion thread, but I can't be bothered looking for it at the moment.

Edit: Apparently I could be bothered. Imperium of Namalak was created on March 3 with the base reaching level 7 within a matter of a few hours. The Triumvirate had the base stats added to our database on March 6.

I see your point, yet not all bases go down that fast, many bases lvl 4, 5+ have very effective defense systems in place, so with this it would be much easier to catch them off guard and disable it quickly, when defending a base you have to remember that seconds count.
