Decrypting the vault is the worst misiion and energy drain in the entire game. It is soooo bad that it should just be ignored. The fact that the rats of the higher level NPC (Rouge Data ANALizer) fill your slots sucks. Missions=Energy Blackhole. I know that I am not alone. With decreasing need of the RND's artifact award, it would take a months worth of energy to finish it; and for what, just to get rid of the RDA that what! Bad mission. I'm done.

But doesn't it give you like 30 scientists or something? That's worth it to me. I don't know what you all are complaining about. An energy blackhole? Well with such an amazing reward it has to be. But I agree with clogging the battle tab. But the energy black hole part makes no sense to me. Improved raiding+improved research.

23 scientists, which really isn't that great. I mean, altogether the 230 research is pretty good, but not much better than a lot of my research planets, which didn't take that much energy to take. I'm mostly going to do the mission to get rid of the NPCs and unlock the following mission.

23 scientists??? That SUCKS! you can get +3 per rank pnt. that's just over 7 rank pnts. That rewards sucks intergalacticly.

Most are just artifacts that give a minuscule amount of *insert ship stat here*. And who would spend rp on scientists? Unless your one of those weaklings who can barely scratch me who spend it all on crew instead of deck.

yes it is a pain just suck it up and get it over with only take a short tie if you put all your energy into it for a few days. its reward is worth it the faster u do it the more rp u will gain.

Chris24markey wrote: put all your energy into it for a few days Quite a few days. With all 45 artifacts it's a 97.900 energy spent for 230 extra rp/h. I got 2k energy so that would mean probably 30 refills with 15 rank ups (free refills). At the rank you get the mission that's 2 planets worth of rp. Or less. So yeah. Worst. Mission. Ever. The NPC's aren't exactly the worst out there (Dark Warpers and Crimson FlameHawk clearly are worse) but given the fact they seem to be an infinity makes the mission a pain in the arse. Either trivializing them and reducing the exp given/reward from mission, being able to use more artifacts instead of the limit of 45, splitting the battle tab into separate sub-tabs for normal/mission NPC's, limiting the number of spawns on given time period are all good ideas that were thrown on the table and they would all make the game a more pleasant experience. Because, after all, that's all of us, including (and on top of the list) Dan want. Show me a guy that has them on the battle tab and he's enjoying it and I'll show you a liar.

Well, I finally beat it. The following mission was a surprise 2.444 ratio mission and I pulled about 6 ranks out of it in a shot, which made me feel a little better. I'm relieved to have my NPC slots back to normal.

Yeah, I'm mostly going to do it to get rid of the NPCs, and the follow-up gives a structure, and I always like those.

I was in agreement with everyone when I realized that the NPCs that keeping clogging up my battle tab give me 200 rp per kill. After killing about 8 or 9 of them one time during a rank up, I realized that that was almost a half hour of RPs for me. So it takes the sting out a little. Not that I can grind npcs when I rank up, those scienceship whatevers are as good as any to kill for xp and the bonuses they give.
Ill admit, Ive had to scrap about 50 of their drops, since I already have enough for the entire chain.

Now that I see flamehawks all over the place ... I realize any mission NPC will reduce their spawn rate = good. I actually sometimes wish I hadn't finished that mission so I could farm longer before having to purge the hawks. For similar reason I haven't done the titancore pod spawning mission.
