Energy and attack are important. Enough hull/defence to outlast your victim also. If you kill 30 ships and later you get disabled once, not really a big deal. Also you develop a nose for which ships have traps, which look like they will be weak. I avoid Aerlens since they value defence, so generally put more into it and hull. A waste of energy.

I find the exact opposite to be true more often. Aerlen Fixers seem to be using that combination to make up for a weakness in their defense and/or hull stats.

Not always, I'm a fixer and I value hull as one of the highest attributes, always have done.
