Post subject:  New players are cannon fodder or...

Hi all,

playing this game about a week now and one thing I've noticed really fast is how way higher leveled players seem to think I'm a cow to be milked. I get disabled almost daily and now that I finally reached level 20 it took a level 134 player 2 minutes to take my best planet away.

Of course I have nothing to claim it back, within another minute the planet had devices and guards and whatnot, things of which I never heard until now.

I'm making mini steps with my research and mining now because the planet I lost was a quite huge one and altho I installed many defense and attack devices there was no chance whatsoever against a high levelled player of course. I expect my other planets to be taken away as well.

So I guess my question is, is it normal to lose planets on a daily basis, shrug, find a new one and try to level up this way? In that case I won't complain anymore. But I have to admit the fun I had the last days (yes even with my ships being disabled all the time) went poof in a blink of an eye and now I wonder what am I even doing this for.

No, losing planet per day is insane. However, it is very easy for low rankers to fortify planets against high rankers. A rank 50 can easily defend a Massive Ocean from a rank 200.

If your getting blown up daily. Join a bigger legion, one that is generous enough to give you traps to defend your ship. I was rarely disabled at early ranks. only around 20-30 times. I lost my first planet at around rank 80 , i have now lost about 6-7 planets. Half of them weren't worth keeping and the other half i had reconquered.

Thanks for your reply. Well I'm just level 20 and besides the standard attack and defense devices there's nothing I can install on the planet. And I'm still learning the game and don't know yet what to focus my research on because I get attacked left and right and have to care for my ship, too.

We created our own Legion so joining another is out of question. But from the looks of it many members in our legion stopped playing, too. Each morning when I check I find disabled ships, and it seems some get attacked daily and cannot be arsed anymore to play.

I don't bother with colonizing new planets anymore. As I understand there are only like 200k or so. I guess planets are for the high levelled players and the new players just came too late when the game was released. We can take the crap planets nobody wants. But since abondoning a crap planet costs hard cash I am not interested in that either.

You will notice later on that you will be disabled less and less, the higher the rank you are.

To stop yourself from being disabled I would recommend installing some cloaking modules on your ship, that way you will wont appear on the battle tab so often. I would also recommend joining a larger more active legion, someone like Blades of Altair would be good for you as there are a few people around you rank there plus higher ranks to help you out.

Focus research on energy, scanners and planetary construction. Sell one or two good planets so high rankers can provide you with traps, artifacts money and protection. And join a legion, blades of altair works just fine.

Sounds like you are going to quit because your not high level, no dont take crap planets. Lots of planets are being generated. So take your time and yes join another legion The Oncoming Storm is a good one for your rank , maybe even Tortuga in that case you would once high enough level might go to Pirates of the Cove. Im never disabled because of cloak. You must of had a good planet for a high rank player to take it. First planet i had i abandoned... and you get better planets in time, go on scan blitz they help alot. Colonize planets that are large or better and rich or better you may want average if its Extremely Rich or higher.

Thanks guys,

I can only install 2 jammers on my ship, I guess that's not enough to stay cloaked.

I don't want to disband the legion we started. We already invested too much in the base. I think I'll pass leadership on to one of our experienced players tho, I'm sure they can make more of it.

Yeah the planet was pretty good, it was huge and rich on mining, artifacts and research. Like I said, it seems crap is for the newbies, good planets for the high levelled players. I expect to lose at least 2 more planets, both rich on artifacts.

Thanks for your offer Kaos, I'll send you a PM.

Cloaking modules fall into two categories jammers and refractors, you can install two of each, doing so will hide you from alot of players battle tabs as scanners are large and at the lower levels many dont use them. Their are over a million planets in the galaxy with more being added in line with the number of players playing, so over time their are new unoccupied planets being added so don't lose heart due to losing one. Their will always be another coming into the game late doesn't mean the big guys have all the planets.

As you rank higher you should get disabled less often PVP is much easier at the lower levels as you don't have to worry about hitting traps and large hulls etc. I would also echo the comments of others and join a strong legion their are a number of good ones wiiling to take in new playerss and help them, it will make your life alot easier, though you don't want to disband it can't be fun for anyone who logs in to a floating wreck everytime they try to play.

What do you mean by 'huge'? What is the actual size rating on it? At low ranks your planets are highly vulnerable. Don't bother with defenses until Graviton Mines and Regional Shields, trust me, it helps. If your worried about getting disabled, it's time to do some disabling! Get your rep up to deadly or above and cloak up. It helps ALOT. Here are some stats from one of my legions lower ranks and one of my friends in real life.

Rank 34 Konqul Fixer
Galactic Coalition (18)
Combat Reputation: Menacing

Battles 1150 (Seasoned)
Player Kills 176
Deaths from Players 28

Size Class Heavy Frigate
Weapons Phase Cannon x2, Dominion Cannon x4
Energy Omicron Injector
Sensors AI Supercomputer
Hull Reinforced Durtanium Plating x2
Shields Harmonic Resonator
Cloaking none
Defenses Inertial Dampener - Mark III x2

If you kill lots, you don't die as much. He uses no cloak. 28 deaths may seem alot, but compared to 176 kills... he also ranks slowly so he's died more than he would of by his rank.

Nimra ..... Bail on the looser legion, when you join one that is active the entire game will change for ya.... You could join mine THE MIZFITS or Ancient Untouchables... as they are who I trained with... good helpful bunch a guys.... train with a legion THEN create and run your own legion It's the only way to go man..... furthermore if you like the guys that active in your legion get them to move to a legion with you.

Use a calming amplifier. You wont get attacked with it set.

You were just unlucky to lose you best planet so early.

It may sound odd after what happened, but at your rank don't put any defense or cloak on your planets (unless it's a great planet). Just maximize production till your higher rank.

Yes that's what we're doing now. Just milk the planets until the cows come home... or until someone comes with his monster ship and takes it from us. Only problem is that scanning for new planets gets harder and harder.

We are in contact with the player who took the planet and he's helping us now that he saw what rookies we are. :)

Another reason you may be being snagged is ironic - many people go for planets of people under level 20 because generally people under level 20 are protected for two weeks, after which they almost are always over level 20. So if you find a level 1-19 planet, it's almost a sure bet that the player abandoned the game. The irony? Those people are trying not to take the planets of folks who are active in the game.

1) Don't bother putting more than 5-8 spaces into defense. Any more and you're losing resources, and frankly you can't build things that will stop someone who wants your world yet. The minimal defense will stop the lowest level players, which is fine.

2) Join a legion who is active and friendly. I suggest the Galaxy Alliance if they'll have you - my old legion. They're good people.

3) Be religious about setting traps. At level 20, only people up to about level 35 can see you on the battle tab. They won't have a lot of null fuses so they can't clear a Halycon trap, and an Omicron mine will probably disable them. Drop me a PM and I'll send you a few of each.

4) Calming Amplifiers and Cloaking will probably stop the daily attacks. But adding some weapons and defense will do you more good - weapons hurt the guy attacking you. Defense reduces damage, combined it spells trouble for a guy just a few levels above you who is attacking you.

Good luck and happy hunting.
