How do I find out who just attacked me?

How can I tell who attacked me? I just logged in and my shields have been heavily damaged, losing 2/3 of their strength. I am assuming it must of been an attack, but where do I find out who did it and what happened? My "News" page mentions nothing about it.

at this point you cant. so long as your not disabled you cant find out who weakened your shields. only if some one disables you will they show up on your ships log...or news

if you put a trap on your ship it will not only notify you, it will hurt or disable the enemy and most of the time they will not come back for seconds.

I come back for seconds (depending on the attack) and may raid or hack them for the trouble.

Traps work well. Kronos virus is a good one, not only do you find out who attacked you but their strength is reduced to 10% making then a very easy target. (the effect is only 30 minutes though.) It is kinda screwy that we don't know who is attacking us though. Another cheap probe that told us who attacked recently might be nice.
Helmsman: "Captain, we're being shot at!"
Captain: "Red alert! Who are they?"
Helmsman: "I don't know, sir!"
Captain: "Well, did you look?"
Helmsman: "...um, no sir, didn't think of that..."
(Boarding party of Zygoid raiders beams onto the bridge)
Helmsman: "They're Zygoid raiders, sir."
