Unless you find a legionmate of your target on the tab and send the message through them or your target is active on th forums, you are pretty much out of luck.

Hey,

I got a message from someone but the person didn't attack or anything. Just a friendly message. How do I respond back to that person? Do I have to attack or trip the trap of that person to respond to their comm messages?

Honestly I think that's kind of stupid. There should be a way to respond back and forth on the ship comms and have a conversation if it doesn't involve PvP'ing or alerting, and we're not in the same legion or aren't FB friends.

You can post a reply on your own comm. Most times it will be seen.

While it is true that you can post it to your comm, there's no way of guaranteeing that they see it. We need a way to send messages to someone without having a link to their ship. Plain and simple

This is something that's been suggested several times in the forums. Hopefully it's something that the GL crew is working on, although it would be nice if Dan could give us how high of a priority it's receiving if that's the case.

This is something I'd definitely like to see, and i've stated as much many times on the forum. Fortunately, Dan Has Now Said That Inter-legion Communications Are Coming In A Future Update, so hopefully this will include improved ways for inter-player communication too. :)

(Scroll down to the last-but-two post in the link to see Dan's reply)

It's Ship->View Ship Stats->Comm, just type in the text field next to the "5 energy" thing.
